Brush Pick Up Starts Monday, 3/29
|
|
Brush is picked up starting on the last Monday of Jan - Sept. We ask your cooperation in making Brush Pick-up more efficient by observing the following guidelines:
- NO BRANCHES OR LIMBS MORE THAN 3 INCHES IN DIAMETER. Only branches, limbs and logs that can be chipped will be collected.
- SMALL LIMBS AND TWIGS should be tied in 1-FOOT ROUND BUNDLES NO LONGER THAN 6 FEET.
- ALL BRANCHES, LIMBS OR LOGS should be no longer than 6 feet, neatly stacked, all in one direction. No more than 3 inches in diameter is allowed.
- VINES AND PRICKER BUSHES must be tied in BUNDLES.
- STUMPS are to be free of DIRT AND DEBRIS.
- NO LEAVES OR GRASS CLIPPINGS are allowed with Brush Pick-Up.
- NO LUMBER, METAL, BUILDING MATERIAL OR FOREIGN DEBRIS are allowed.
REMINDER: If you use an OUTSIDE CONTRACTOR to cut down a tree, trim trees, bushes and/or landscape, the CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE for hauling it away — not the Borough.
VIOLATIONS: If Brush Pick-Up procedures are not followed, the brush will not be picked up and a notice will be left describing the violation(s).
GRASS CLIPPINGS - The only material which should be put into the covered containers for these Wednesday pick-ups is grass. Please: NO TWIGS, BRANCHES, STONES OR OTHER MATERIALS.

"THINK SPRING" COMMUNITY FOOD DRIVE
The Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains, 400 Speedwell Avenue, is sponsoring a community-wide food drive to collect hams and other food items to help to stock the shelves at the Interfaith Food Pantry and to feed neighbors in need this Spring season. Any donations of hams and non-perishables may be dropped off at the church parking lot on Saturday, March 27th from 10 am to 2 pm. Thank you!

- 1st-4th grade program run by volunteer coaches.
- PreK Clinic (age 3 through Kindergarten) run by professional trainers

Morris Plains Museum Scholarship

MHS Seniors: Apply for a Scholarship
from the Morris Plains Museum Association
Applications are now available at the Morristown High School Guidance Office for the $2,000 Helen H. Schnack Scholarship, presented by the Morris Plains Museum Association.
Scholarship criteria:
- Borough of Morris Plains resident, MHS Class of 2021 (no financial need requirement)
- Demonstrate an interest in history through one essay question
- MHS transcript with a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Participation in extracurricular activities
Application deadline is March 31, 2021.

Morris Plains Fire Association Memorial Scholarship Program
|
The Morris Plains Fire Association wishes to recognize the academic and civic accomplishments of the young residents of the Borough of Morris Plains. This Memorial Scholarship Fund is founded in memory of the deceased members of the Morris Plains Fire Association. The Scholarship fund is established to aid qualified individuals in their desire to attend college, vocational school or to acquire other post secondary school education.

Morris Plains School District
Kindergarten Pre-Registration is Open
The Morris Plains School District is currently collecting information for our new Kindergarten students for the 2021-2022 school year. Any parents who have Kindergarten age children should preregister using this link. Children must be residents of Morris Plains and five years of age on or before October 1, 2021, to be eligible for a September entrance into kindergarten. A birth certificate, proof of residence, and health information are required at the registration.

Municipal Court Update
In an effort to maintain public safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, the municipal court will continue to host remote virtual court sessions. Please contact us to schedule a proceeding and/or provide updated personal information.
If you are disputing a traffic ticket and do not wish to appear in court, many cases are now eligible for review through the Online Municipal Case Resolution System at njmcdirect.com. You may select the option for case dispute and enter your ticket information. Eligible traffic tickets will be reviewed by the prosecutor and you will be notified with their recommendation.
Our office is here to serve you during the hours of 8:30-4:30 Monday through Friday. While the building is closed for public entry, you may call the court to schedule an appointment at 973-538-4019. We are committed to delivering exceptional customer service in "The Community of Caring" and strive to provide a satisfying court experience for all.
