The Morris County and Morris Township Office of Emergency Management is closely monitoring the excessive heat advisory, severe storm warning, and potential for flash flooding that is expected to impact our area later this evening into tomorrow, as well as over the course of the next few days.
Severe thunder storms with strong damaging winds will be a primary hazard in our area later this evening. Storms may turn severe, especially between 6 p.m. to midnight, with damaging wind gusts of 40-to-60 MPH. Storms could produce several inches of rain with a 50 percent chance of flash flooding.
Additional storms are expected during the day Thursday. These storms will not be severe but could produce another .50- to-1.5-inches of rain with some flooding possible, especially in the afternoon.
