"What Are You Listening For?"

Led by Rev. Laurie Stuart

The service is rooted in the essential need to practice plurality. It touches briefly on complexity theory, an emerging scientific discussion about the interconnected universe of self-sustaining systems through the work of Neil Theise and his book Notes on Complexity. Report on March 17 Board Update Meeting and resulting "Affinity Diagrams"

Thank you again for joining us for the Board Update Meeting of March 17th. Covering topics on Finance, Communication, and Religious Education, 80 members attended and contributed their input through 162 Post-it® notes. The Affinity Diagram Summary Report and the March 17th Board Update Meeting are available in the highlighted link below. You will see how your Concerns, Questions, Ideas, and Gratitudes are pulled together in Groupings and then connected our work underway and for our journey ahead. Building Project Update

  • The drop ceiling in Chu Hall is being installed. The photo on the left shows the structure while the photo on the right shows what it will look like when complete.
  • The electricians are working to connect the new electrical panel.
  • The painters are starting this week.

A video of the construction timeline can be accessed here.

Please remember to follow the signs and fencing and remain out of the construction area.

And finally, please contact Shari Loe or Franklin Heller at drww@muuf.org or visit our website to see how you can help or to donate.

Endowment Grant

The Endowment Grant was awarded to the front window painting project. That has been expanded to include the windows in rooms 204 and 205. These are being paid for from the buildings repair budget and the excess of the grant over the contract for the front windows.

The project began this week in the back and will move to the front windows next week. This will allow for the back windows to be completed prior to the courtyard pavers being installed.

Parking Lot Repair

The sink hold in the accessible lot was repaired on Tuesday. In early July, the cracks in the main parking lot will be sealed.

General Assembly

The UUA General Assembly was last week. Judie Romano served as one of our delegates and has provided the summary document below for all to review.

Upcoming Events

Outside the Fellowship

Vegan Pot Luck and Film Screening

You are invited to a vegan potluck dinner and film screening of Cooked: Survival by ZIP Code on Sunday, July 14, beginning at 5:30 pm at UU Congregation of Somerset Hills, 123 East Cliff Street, Somerville, NJ. This event is sponsored by the UUCSH Green Team.

Cooked: Survival by ZIP Code delves into the story of the worst heat disaster in U.S. history in 1995 in Chicago, when 739 residents—mostly elderly and Black—died over the course of one week. The film links the deadly heat wave's devastation back to the man-made disaster of structural racism, shining a light on the issues of poverty, race, class, and education that underlie how natural disasters take lives.

Please register at this link by Friday, July 12 if you plan to attend this event. You're welcome to attend the potluck and the film, or just the film.

The potluck begins at 5:30 pm. The film will begin at 6:30; please arrive between 6:15 pm and 6:30 pm if you plan to attend the film only. It lasts 1 hour and 22 minutes, and there will be moderated discussion for up to 30 minutes following the film.

Weekly pick up at the Fellowship.
