Just A Reminder

If you find me in the woods, or even on your lawn, I am not abandoned.

Doe often leave a fawn for hours on end. Chances are it has a sibling, but the fawns are not together. Doe separate their fawns at birth to increase their chances of survival from predators. The very worst thing we can do is assume a fawn is abandoned, pick him up or take her home. Fawns have highly specialized needs, and cow milk is not easily digested. Understand that the fawn was left by it’s mother while she goes off to feed. It is so very tempting to touch them, or call our children to come and look. Please appreciate them from a distance, use care to keep any human scent away from them, and walk away.
