MTA Covid-19 Update (From January 11, 2021)
Dear Prep/Villa/MTA family,
I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas Season. Unfortunately, we begin 2021 still mired in a pandemic. The number of positive cases of Covid-19 are impacting our health care system in Erie, thus we remain vigilant in our effort to ensure a safe and healthy environment in our buildings. The following are the current numbers for our school:
- Prep Campus: 4 active cases and 23 in quarantine due to close contact
- Villa Campus: 2 active cases and 26 in quarantine due to close contact
- MTA Campus: 0 active cases and 3 in quarantine due to close contact
The reason for the abnormally high number of individuals in quarantine is due to the Prep and Villa swim teams quarantining for the next 10-14 days.
I speak from experience when I say it’s imperative that all positive cases should be reported, so we can go about the business of tracing close contacts. Over the Christmas break, I had two family members test positive and the rest of the family immediately quarantined. The result was that nobody else in the family tested positive over the course of the following ten days, thus we were able to get back to our work/school lives quicker while remaining safe. I implore all of you to check-in with Mr. Pituch when a household member has tested positive, so we can take the appropriate precautions in our building(s).
There is some good news. The Pennsylvania Department of Health has announced that people involved in education are part of the “1b” group to receive a vaccination, which is the next group after healthcare workers, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, etc. Although the precise timeline is still unclear, we are hoping for the vaccination to come our way sometime in February. Once that is complete, we will announce a plan to ramp-up the number of students taking classes in person.
Please join me in praying for all of the lives in the Prep/Villa/MTA family that have been affected by the pandemic.
God bless and be well,
Chris Hagerty ‘75

Important Reminder Regarding School Events!!
Mother Teresa Academy Families,
I hope this message finds you healthy and surrounded by those you love. I want to take a moment to remind all of you that we’re still navigating a pandemic, COVID-19, and due to these circumstances we are continuing with every effort to keep our community as healthy and safe as possible. As a school, we are committed to follow all directives mandated by The Pennsylvania Department of Education and The Department of Health, specifically concerning our athletic programs.
As much as I would love to cheer our Saints to victory with all of you, currently this is not a possibility for everyone. The purpose of this email is to remind all families and community members that we have a limit for the amount of fans that can attend each event/game. This is not only a school effort but a Diocesan and State-wide effort as well. That being said, THERE IS ONLY ONE PERSON PER PLAYER AT EACH EVENT/GAME - NO EXCEPTIONS. Please understand that if you are asked to leave the space/Gym etc., it is not personal but rather an effort to comply with guidelines that keep us safe and allow us to continue to participate in extra-curricular activities.
In order to attend games/events, parents or guardians need to present a ticket at the door, be on the official Diocesan list (one attendee per player), and follow all COVID-19 procedures (i.e. thermal scanner). Please make sure you are communicating attendee information with our Athletic Department (Dan.ek@prep-villa.com) or our main office. Also know that we will not be able to open the door for other family members/friends who come in during the middle of a game. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding regarding these safety measures.
*That being said, let’s continue to positively cheer on our Saints as they march to victory.
Thank you and have a blessed day.

What's To Love About MTA?
“Last year at the beginning of the school year, my daughter struggled with reading tremendously. With the work from her teachers, she went up three reading levels and grew much more confident. I honestly believe the smaller classroom size and support from the school allowed her to succeed much more than the public school would have. This is why I appreciate the school and the opportunity to be apart of the very first year and continued growth of the school.”
