The Next Generation
is a group of 32 student dancers who present numerous programs and activities for community service projects in support of Dance Alive National Ballet's mission and programming. Since September 2017 the group has participated in 32 DANB performances at home and on the road and presented and performed in 17 community service activities.
May 12th the group will take the stage for its final formal performance of the year. On this Mother's Day, the performance will be dedicated to all those women who believed in the talent of each dancer and cherished their dreams. The dancers will also explore some of the history of DANB and the world of dance. The works were selected to challenge and explore the talents of the dancers-and provide the audience with an entertaining and artistic experience.
Ms. Leon and Ms. Monroe spent last summer studying with Lines Ballet. They will be featured in DANB Artistic Director Kim Tuttle's CHORDS. Ms. Leon will be partnered by DANB's Aaron Gomez while Ms. Monroe will be featured soloist.
Keith Scheaffer, former principal dancer with Dance Alive National Ballet rehearsed this work.
The two dancers will also perform in guest choreographer Anthony Ferro's KRAFTWERK, a work toured through the South and Midwest by DANB in the 80's and 90's. Rachel Ridley, a Dance Alive National Ballet soloist staged and rehearsed this work.
Another work toured and performed at home by DANB, SIMPLE SONG, will be performed by Mari Mancuso. Dance Alive National Ballet principal Carla Amancio rehearsed Ms. Mancuso in this work. Ms. Mancuso will also perform in CHORDS and KRAFTWERK.
Four advanced dancers will perform classical variations. Stirling Kolb will perform a solo from Giselle, Tucker Gokey a solo from Swan Lake, Allie Schofield a solo from Pharoh's Daughter and Mia Christie a solo from Paquita.
These young soloists were coached by Julia Ponomareva and Sergii Sydorskyi, principal dancers with Dance Alive National Ballet and
Mercy Piedra, First Soloist with National Ballet of Cuba
This performance by Next Generation helps pay for costumes and provides support for DANB's educational programs.
Directors include Kelly Christie, Rachel Ridley, Keith Scheaffer and Judy Skinner.
