Donate to charity for a chance to win!

Voting is now well under way in our Hanging Basket Challenge. Not only do you have a chance to win a beautiful hanging basket, but you will also be donating some cash to a worthy charity.

Here’s how it works:

Early March – Our employees and family members - Kieron, Dan, Kelly, Samm, Cathy, Ben, Jacqueline and Chris each designed and planted a 14” hanging basket, using no more than 6 plants per basket. The baskets have been growing along with the rest of our crops, have a look at the plant combos.

May 5 to May 26 – Visitors to the farm pay to vote for their favourite basket, (ballots $2 each or 3 for $5) with each vote being a chance to win the basket. (Retail selling price $65.) Vote as many times as you like!

May 27 – One ballot will be drawn to win each basket and the 8 basket winners will be contacted. The basket design with the most votes will be announced. The winning basket designer has bragging rights and will choose a charity for the proceeds to be donated to.

Our Perennial Party on Sunday May 5 was a huge success! The sun finally came out and by some miracle, we enjoyed the warmest day of the year yet! Over 100 visitors joined us to celebrate spring and take advantage of some great deals on perennials.

It was great to see many of our regular customers emerging after the winter and also welcome several new customers too! We ran out of our Cats Pajamas Nepeta giveaway plant, so if you missed out, let me know at your next visit and I’ll make sure you get a different free plant.

For the best choice of annuals, it is ideal to be at the flower farm and purchase as soon as possible in the spring. However, most years the weather is not yet reliably warm, even by Victoria Day weekend. It’s safer to harden off your new annual plants before you put them directly outside.

If you wait until later, there are no guarantees that you will get the plants you wanted! It’s a catch 22! Buy now and harden off your annuals at home.
