Covid Chronicles- Week 8
Wow! What a difference a week makes. Day to day life feels like it's shifting and opening up. It been fascinating how the each phase of the quarantine has been accompanied by it's own unique set of emotions. We went from a primary phase of fear and anxiety, which eventually transitioned into a period of confusion and frustration. This new wave seems to be defined by a an extreme sense of trepidation and concern. How do we step back out in the world in a safe, responsible fashion? What exactly does that even look like now?
These are the questions spinning around my head this week. I think about how to protect myself and my staff as well as making all of you feel safe and protected. Luckily, the Governor has laid out some good guidelines of how to proceed safely. We will have to see how the next few weeks go, how slow we need to proceed before things get back to some kind of normal again.
So here's my plan for now- Starting next week, I will be in the store from 12-5pm, Monday through Saturday to take your calls, process website orders, answer questions, etc. I will not be letting customers into the store yet, but I am more than happy to work with you from your car, outside on sidewalk, etc. If you are interested, I can put together several items for you to take with you to try on at home. You can leave you credit card information, but won't be charged until you make your final selections. Please give me a call before you drive over to avoid customers overlapping.
In addition, our "Sharon Boxes" have been a great success. If you don't want to venture out to see us, I'll ship a box of curated items for you to try. One of the benefits of having worked with all of you for so many years, is that I know what you like, what you don't like, what fits your body, etc. This is the one retail "superpower" I possess and it has definitely come in handy these last weeks.
So that's my plan for now. Let's see how it works for us all. Please let me know if you have any other concerns/suggestions to make shopping with us easier, safer and more enjoyable.
Lastly, I do want to wish everyone a wonderful Mother's Day. Those of us with kids quarantined in the same house have just experienced a 2-month intensive refresher course in the joys and frustrations of Motherhood. Woohoo, it's been quite a ride! Let's take this weekend to celebrate our kids, ourselves, our sisters, mothers and grandmothers during this hard time. We are all doing the best we can. Below are a few last minute gift ideas for all the special women in your life.
Until next Friday....take good care, Sharon
