Some number of years ago the topic of motivation came up in a group conversation.

And in particular, self-motivation.

So what motivates you?

How about doing what you love and having your passion demonstrated in the results you produce?
How about creating happy customers, clients, staff and co-workers.
How about self-fulfillment and satisfaction?
How about the discovery of what's never been done before and seeing it become widely accepted and implemented?

The latter is a personal favorite of mine.

Years ago the belief was that entrepreneurship could not be taught.

This opinion, by the way, was solidly held by tenured professors in business schools who taught management courses.

They " knew all about business" and if they couldn't teach it - "because it was unteachable" - then no one could.

Pipe-smoking research scientist that I am had me believe that entrepreneurship could be taught by successful entrepreneurial business owners.

So I arranged to have them put in classrooms in the business incubators we had founded, Houston's first and Texas' oldest.

You know what happened next.

It became an "overnight sensation" with colleges and universities around the world teaching entrepreneurship using their successful entrepreneurial business owners in the classrooms.

Come have breakfast with us any Wednesday and I'll share what our latest discoveries are and they all have to do with you.

Successful regard$,

Julius Caesar has been dead more than two years when the forces of Mark Antony and Octavian catch up with those of one of Caesar's killers, Brutus, in Philippi, Macedonia. Brutus has lost his compatriot Cassius to suicide, and now his forces, and his spirit, are soundly defeated, as he too takes his own life.

Hungarians stage popular uprising against USSR
Seven years of Soviet domination is more than enough for 20,000 Hungarians who gather in Budapest calling for their country's independence. Some 180,000 more join them, but state police fire on the crowd, marking the start of a crackdown that will eventually crush the nascent revolution.

Terrorists strike US and French military posts in Beirut
Suicide bombers detonate two truck bombs outside the barracks housing the US 1st Battalion 8th Marines in Beirut, Lebanon, killing 241 servicemen and injuring more than 100. Almost simultaneously, another suicide attack on France's military barracks takes the lives of 58 paratroopers.

Since 1983!
A not-for-profit cooperative association of independent businesses, founded from an economic development research project on the
importance of small business development conducted by the
Houston Chamber of Commerce in the late 1970's.

With our first Co-Op meeting held March 14, 1983, to date we've worked with 65,590
people, generating 44,450 tips, leads, referrals and items of new business, generating revenues exceeding one billion dollars, founded the Entrepreneurial Development Center - Houston's first and Texas' oldest small business incubator and co-working space, First Houston Small Business Seed Capital Fund - literally the first small business seed capital fund in Houston, the Womens Business Center - first business incubator for women business owners in the country with residency space and the Virtual Business Center - the first remote business incubator in the world - all totally without public funding, grants, gifts, donations or contributions.

Co-Op companies have won virtually every award for business growth in Houston, some nationally and some even internationally.

Our Entrepreneurial Research Division conclusively demonstrated "entrepreneurship" could be taught in a classroom environment, resulting in colleges and universities, globally,
commencing entrepreneurial courses.
