VBH is excited to announce Chad Slack as the April VOTM. Chad is a US Navy Veteran who served during the 1 st Gulf War as an F-14 Hydraulic Mechanic on CV-62 USS Independence. He is a VFW officer in Locust, NC Post 6563 and the Commander for a Corning ERG called CVETS (Corning Veterans Engaged To Support) at their Concord Plant in Midland, NC. After an accident left him paralyzed for a short time, he committed himself to helping those mobility challenged to experience athletics for the past two decades with the Adaptive Sports and Adventure Program which helps VETS recover from their injuries and empowers them reach new goals in Adaptive Sports; from water skiing, tennis, basketball, rugby, fishing and kayaking.

This is only a small snapshot of Chad's community involvement. His constant community involvement not only helps those in need, but inspires others to do the same. Not to mention, he did all this while working full time and completing a degree.
