YOU ARE DRIVING A MODERN CLASSIC
As Porsche celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2024, it’s fascinating to reflect on the brand's enduring legacy. While many automakers can boast a history spanning decades, few have maintained the same level of control and vision. This unwavering commitment to excellence has been a hallmark of the brand since its inception.
And as for pedigree, Porsche's relentless development of the 911 is unmatched in duration by any other automobile. The 911 shares many similarities with the 356 series which preceded it.
Evolutionary design is what gives a Porsche its timeless nature, and that, along with exceptional quality, has given older Porsche cars in top condition such a strong resale value. Porsche's dedication to performance has made them the benchmark all others aspire to.
How many times have you been told how fast other cars are, but on the other hand, how many times do you find yourself being passed? Sometimes, after we've owned a car for a few years, we lose our appreciation for it. Some of the luster which first attracted us to the car has worn off, and age and familiarity have taken their toll. We often see cars come in for service and say to ourselves, "that car would look great if only..." or "they should replace a few...and the car would drive so much better". Often, little things cause the car to lose that tight feel that attracted you in the first place.
A change of wheels and tires or a new steering wheel can give the car a fresh impact. For example, most of the interior of a Porsche will look good almost indefinitely, but seat skins and floor mats wear out. Replacing these items with new ones will restore the crisp look that new cars have. Investing in some mechanical reconditioning will give you back that tight on-rails handling, and a modern wheel and tire can transform the look of your car. So the next time you're drooling over a classic car, remember someone is probably looking at yours and doing the same. You're already driving the car you dreamed of; find out how simple it can be to refurbish it. Let's have a chat about the possibilities.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT WINTER TIRES
Winter tires are designed to give your car optimum performance in cold, wet, icy, or snowy conditions. Unlike summer tires, which tend to harden as temperatures drop, winter tires are made from a softer rubber compound. This keeps them flexible when it’s cold, allowing them to grip the road more effectively. Winter tires have deeper tread depths, making it easier to handle slippery surfaces and tougher road conditions.
If you drive a Porsche, switching to winter tires is especially beneficial. They can significantly shorten braking distances in winter conditions compared to summer tires, giving you more control and safety when the roads get tricky.
Winter Tires vs. Summer Tires: What’s the Difference?
|
The main difference between winter and summer tires is how they interact with the road. Winter tires are designed to form a stronger bond with challenging surfaces—whether it’s snow, ice, or heavy rain—while summer tires are made for warmer, dry conditions.
One of the key advantages of winter tires is their ability to reduce braking distances on wet or icy roads. So, when you’re driving in winter, they can give you that extra bit of safety that regular summer tires just can’t provide.
| |
Identifying winter tires is easy. Look at the sidewall of the tire, and you’ll see a range of letters, digits, and symbols. For winter tires, keep an eye out for two things:
1. M+S Marking: This stands for ‘mud and snow,’ indicating the tire is suited for these conditions.
2. Alpine Symbol: A three-peaked mountain with a snowflake inside. This symbol is the key to identifying tires that have been tested and certified for winter use.
Not all tires with the M+S marking are rigorously tested for winter performance, but those with the Alpine symbol have been certified for winter driving, giving them an edge in safety and efficiency over summer tires.

Please note: In British Columbia, winter tires or chains are mandatory on many routes starting October 1, including mountain passes and rural routes

When Should I Switch to Winter Tires? |
The general rule of thumb is to switch to winter tires when temperatures drop to 7°C or lower. At this point, summer tires begin to harden, making them less effective and increasing braking distances.
In the Northern Hemisphere, this usually means swapping out your summer tires for winter ones between October and April. Switch early to ensure you’re ready for the colder months and the more challenging road conditions they bring.
By switching to winter tires, you’ll boost your car’s performance and ensure a safer and more controlled driving experience when the weather turns. Stay ahead of the season and make the change before winter hits!

WEISSACH SERVICE INSPECTIONS
Over the years, we’ve provided pre-purchase inspections for many of our customers, using the same rigorous process we apply to all of our pre-owned vehicles. As some of our clients choose to keep their cars longer, we’ve noticed that while they are diligent about regular maintenance, over time, certain aspects may be overlooked, and the vehicle may simply be kept running at a basic level.
Recently, we’ve seen an increase in requests for what we call a health inspection. This comprehensive report evaluates every aspect of your car’s condition—mechanical, cosmetic, and beyond. It provides an in-depth perspective on the state of your vehicle, highlighting upcoming repairs and cosmetic attention it may need and offering a roadmap for any future work required.
By taking a step back with this inspection, you’ll have a clear understanding of your car’s current status. From there, we can help you plan for necessary repairs, cosmetic updates, or even enhancements you’ve been considering but have postponed. The fall and winter months are an ideal time for this, as our business cycle shifts, allowing us to dedicate time to these thorough assessments.
| |
|
If this is something you’ve been considering, I’d love to discuss it further.
Every car is unique, and every client has different needs, but our inspection report truly provides clarity, allowing you to plan effectively. We look forward to hearing from you and helping you ensure that your Porsche continues to perform at its best for years to come.

A TRIBUTE TO THE ICONIC BOXSTER & CAYMAN
Porsche's Gas-Powered Boxster and Cayman duo will leave production in 2025. This marks the end of an iconic era for the German automaker, as the beloved mid-engine sports cars have been a staple in Porsche's lineup for nearly three decades.
The decision to discontinue the ICE-powered 718 models aligns with Porsche's broader electrification strategy. The company has been steadily transitioning its lineup towards electric vehicles, and the 718 is the latest model to make the switch. While the exact details of the electric successors are still under wraps, Porsche has hinted that they will be even more focused on performance and driving dynamics.
|
"With the iconic Porsche Boxster and Cayman transitioning to an all-electric platform soon. This marks the end of an era for the gasoline-powered models.
If you've been dreaming of owning one, now is the perfect time to secure a Boxster or Cayman before these combustion-engine legends become increasingly rare in the future. Don't miss this opportunity to own a piece of Porsche's storied history!"
