MOTORIST ADVISED TO REMAIN ALERT TO NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN AT WESTBOUND HRBT
Work begins this evening at 9:00 p.m.
HAMPTON/NORFOLK-The two travel lanes approaching the westbound Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel will be restriped beginning at 9:00 p.m. this evening. The work will add a truck deceleration lane to allow construction traffic to safely enter onto the South Island where the HRBT Expansion project is underway.
The restriping will move traffic slightly to the left shoulder for approximately one-half mile for the duration of the expansion project.
Motorists should remain alert to the road work. Overhead dynamic message signs will serve as an early reminder to the traffic change.
If inclement weather prevents tonight's work, it will be rescheduled for Saturday evening, August 22.
