Think Death Cafe with a Twist. Dying to Talk is a gathering where people join together to discuss what matters most to them around the issues of life and death.
Dying to Talk provides an opportunity to respectfully discuss death as a natural part of our lives. Engaging in conscious conversations can help us get comfortable making decisions about what our end-of-life could look like for us. When we plan for our death, it makes room for us to live each day with meaning and helps lighten the burden for our loved ones after our death.
Shrouds have been used for thousands of years. A shroud is a piece of fabric used to wrap the body and are made of many materials, including cotton, silk, muslin, wool, bamboo and hemp. Shrouds are highly customizable. You can choose the fabric, colour, design and even have pockets for souvenirs. A shroud is also often a more preferred method for green burials as there are typically fewer resources used.
Join me in conscious conversation with Kelly Stern from Compassionate Care Collaborators, who offer custom-made or sew-it-yourself shrouds in various designs for yourself, your loved one, and your pets. These full body shrouds can be used for traditional burial, natural (green) burial, or cremation. This event is hosted by RoseAnne Desmarais. RoseAnne is an End-of Life Doula, Private Palliative PSW and Certified Grief Educator/Companion.
