Town Administrator's E-Brief

From Town Administrator, Eric DeMoura           Town of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina

February 2016
Dear Mount Pleasant residents and business owners,

This month's E-brief focuses on our government outreach activities, our latest communication efforts, and the new initiative we are launching to further support our business community. All these efforts are important to us as your local government because they enable us to "get Town Hall out of Town Hall", thereby strengthening our relationships with our citizens.

We, as a town, face more complex challenges and critical needs than ever before. For this reason alone, it is imperative that we have strong community relationships and we leverage our shared resources to address common goals. Successful partnerships require frequent communication, regular interaction, and mutual support. This is why we invest so heavily in our communication tools and outreach opportunities. On behalf of Mayor Page and Town Council, I invite you to join us at one of our many upcoming outreach events.

For more information about all that is happening in the Town of Mount Pleasant, please visit us online, like us on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter.

Best Regards,

Attention Pet Owners- You Can
Help Prevent Stormwater Pollution

Pet waste that is left on the ground can put pollution into your yards, local creeks and marshes.  Pet waste contains harmful bacteria and viruses that can make humans and other animals sick.  Bacteria are the # 1 type of pollution in our waterways.  When it rains, the bacteria leaves the waste and flow off with rain water.  It's not a problem that we can see by looking at the water in our creeks, but you may see the issue reported with local beach closures or closed oyster beds.
Picking up pet waste every day is the best way to help control this type of pollution.  Use a pet waste pick up bag when walking your dog and be sure to dispose of the waste in a garbage container. Ask your neighborhood to install or sponsor a pet waste station for your common or park areas. And don't forget- your own back yard needs to be collected too! For additional information click here
