As we get into true summer weather, be sure to take precautions that keep your neighbors and volunteers safe, and your devices functional during outdoor distributions.
Neighbor + Volunteer Safety
- Set up a canopy or tent for shade.
-
Whenever possible, have water available. When outdoors for extended periods of time, you should aim to drink water consistently—at least 8 ounces every 20–30 minutes.
-
Rotate team members for regular cooling breaks indoors or in air-conditioned vehicles.
- In the event of rain or extreme heat, you may consider using a sign in sheet for returning neighbors.
Volunteers can take down their name and other identifying info (Mountain Card #, DOB, etc.) to be back dated into MCI later. Whenever possible, get at least one additional piece of identifying information to avoid creating duplicates or assigning visits to the wrong neighbor.
New neighbors would still need to complete the full intake process.
