I have taken a blog break this summer. No July, no August....but lots
of new material for the rest of the year! Each outing or hike my trusty
little digital Cannon Power Shot dangled from my pack at the "every ready" assuring of a photo or video of whatever I came across...and no tears if it got wet, lost or dropped. No cell coverage in the park so the camera was a more efficient faster choice.
The spectacular mountains of Glacier National Park, marmots,
mountain goats, mountain sheep and bears have all been the subject
of my snapshots this summer and I can't wait to paint my
interpretations of all these great and wonderful sights!
Sometimes there are bumps on the road to stop us and make us
thankful to be alive.....a layover in Columbus OH on our cross country
trek is an example. We were in the first rain storm of the summer (for
us) and the car began to hydroplane....scary! We pulled over and discovered our 1 year old tires were practically bald...I know we've covered a lot of ground, but they shouldn't be bald already! On a Saturday afternoon about all one can do is place a special order and chill until Monday morning. Blessings abound... no accident, tucked
into a renovated hotel room with happy colors, found a delicious new Italian restaurant, had a good sleep and a free day to visit the art
galleries of Columbus' "Short North".
When not driving, I spend time in my sk
etch book. This gives me a chance to do thumbnail sketches of future larger pieces...and to use
watercolor pencils on scenes I'd sketched earlier in the summer. Relaxing and challenging this helps me collect my thoughts and ideas.
