Youth Spotlight & Difference Maker

Youth Spotlight: Carlos Elvir

By Mikayla Curtis: Director of Strategic Impact

Mountain Youth has the great honor of working with incredible youth and each month gets to spotlight one of those youth in our community who make it a better place to live. This month, we’re honored to spotlight Carlos Elvir, a recent graduate of Battle Mountain High School. Carlos is a youth that inspires everyone around him to be the best versions of themselves.

Difference Maker: Steve Bennett

By Hannah Conoley: Senior Manager of Community Engagement

Born in Colorado Springs and raised in Davidson, North Carolina, Steve Bennett has always felt a pull toward Colorado’s mountains. With family roots stretching from Leadville to Lakewood, he grew up visiting the state and developing an appreciation for the communities that shaped his parents and grandparents. After graduating high school, he followed that pull west and enrolled at CU Boulder— setting the stage for the community‑centered life he leads today.
