Youth Spotlight: EVHS Green Team
By Michele Zoller: Operations Manager
| |
In 2021, a vision for a more sustainable future took root at Eagle Valley High School (EVHS). Rylee Sharkey—a former Mountain Youth Valley’s Voice member and Board Member brought the idea to action and the EVHS Green Team began as a mission to create a dedicated space for environmental advocacy. Today, what started as an idea to be a more sustainable Highschool has grown into a 21-member youth led initiate including 12 seniors, all working toward a singular goal: making their school greener and making an impact in our community.

Difference Maker: Ellen Sirico
By Cam Dole: Senior Manager of Youth Engagement
| At some point in every student’s life, they will have the “what’s next?” question. Each youth gets to decide their decision with this extremely open-ended question. One student may be ready to map out college applications, another student has no idea what comes after graduation, and another kid is excited about welding school, a summer job, or a two-year apprenticeship. For this reason, Ellen Sirico (Ms. Ellen) gets to offer opportunities and support to youth taking their next big steps. These seniors have a variety of plans and awareness, and it’s up to Ellen and the postsecondary learning and career readiness team to offer as much as possible. | | |
Mountain Youth is excited to kick off the summer with our 5th annual Youthapalooza celebration! On June 4, Youthapalooza will provide over thirty community partners from throughout the Eagle River Valley with the opportunity to share their services and resources with youth and families at the Eagle Town Park from 12:00 – 2:00pm.
As the school year comes to a close, students begin to imagine all the free time they’ll have during the summer while their parents seek out ways to structure that time with fun and productive activities. The summer is also a time when many families miss out on supports and resources that are traditionally provided at schools.
Come learn more about how to have a busy, engaged summer on Thursday, June 4th at Eagle Town Park for a dunk tank, obstacle course & community partners at Youthapalooza!

| | Eagle County is home to some of the best trout fishing that the country has to offer, but licensing, expensive gear and a culture of gate-keeping can make it intimidating for newcomers to get started.
