MOVE UNITED EDUCATION CONFERENCE EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION OPEN

Secure your spot today for the Move United Education Conference hosted by the National Ability Center in Park City, Utah May 5-7 2025 (pre-conference workshops May 3-5). Member organizations receive a 40% discount on registration. Early Bird registration ends March 28th, don't miss out!


Over 90 educational sessions and workshops including an executive director/organization leadership track will be offered, in addition to socials, exhibitor hall, off-site excursions, poster session presentations, and more. Learn more about the session tracks HERE.


Registration Instructions:

  1. Visit the Move United Member Hub (hub.moveunitedsport.org) and sign in or create an account. *To register for the Move United Education Conference, Free Individual Membership is required.
  2. Complete your Profile by filling out all required fields.
  3. Once your profile is complete, click the Move United Education Conference logo (on main homepage) and register for the Move United Education Conference.

TRAIL ASSESSMENT SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND THE MOVE UNITED EDUCATION CONFERENCE

With generous support from the May and Stanley Smith Foundation, Move United has funding to support member organizations to attend the Education Conference who are leading the way in trail access.  


To submit an application:


  • Log in to the Move United Hub (log in to existing account or create new Free or Premium account)
  • Navigate to "Membership"
  • Select "Individual Member Grants"
  • Select "Free Member Grants"
  • Apply to "2025 Move United Education Conference – Trail Access Scholarship"

U.S CENTER FOR SAFESPORT COURSE UPDATES

The U.S Center for SafeSport has been working on updates to their online courses based on your feedback, including a shorter Core. We are excited that the following courses will be updated on Wednesday, March 26, 2025:

 

  • SafeSport® Trained Core
  • Refresher 1, 2, and 3


Learners who are in progress on any of these courses need to complete them by Tuesday, March 25 to avoid having progress reset and having to restart from the beginning. Please advise them to complete any in-progress courses ASAP and plan your training schedule accordingly.


MOVE UNITED GATEWAY EVENT: EXPLORING INCLUSIVE SPORTS AND RECREATION

April 3rd | 5:00-6:30PM EST

Move United invites you to participate in Move United Gateway: Exploring Inclusive Sports and Recreation.


This virtual event will connect Move United member organizations with students and professionals seeking job, internship, and volunteer opportunities in adaptive sports.

U.S. Sailing has awarded SailMaine and the Adaptive Outdoor Education Center (AOEC) with the 2024 Robie Pierce Award. This national award celebrates the profound impact of

their collaborative efforts on making sailing more accessible and inclusive for all.


The award, named after Robie Pierce, an influential figure in the world of adaptive sailing, acknowledges those who have gone above and beyond to create opportunities for

individuals with disabilities to enjoy the sport of sailing. SailMaine and AOEC were selected for their innovative programs that have empowered sailors of all abilities to experience the freedom and challenge of being on the water.

MEET MOVE UNITED

KARI MILLER-ORTIZ

DIRECTOR OF PEOPLE & CULTURE

Former U.S. Army Sergeant Kari Miller-Ortiz lost both her legs when a car she was in was hit by a drunk driver while she was on leave from military duty in 1999. She discovered sitting volleyball after playing other wheelchair-based sports, including her favorite, wheelchair basketball. Through dedicated training and coaching, she made the U.S. Paralympic Team and began competing internationally.


Kari made her Paralympic debut in 2007, winning a Silver Medal at the Sitting Volleyball Invitational. In 2008, she won a Bronze Medal at the World Organization Volleyball for Disabled (WOVD) Championship and a Silver Medal at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.
