THE HARTFORD NATIONALS REGISTRATION IS OPEN

Registration is open for the 2024 The Hartford Nationals. 2023 saw 36 states and 35 member organizations represented at The Hartford Nationals! In 2024, we would love to see even more! Member organizations from Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, and Wyoming - reach out to Nina Cutro-Kelly to learn more about attending the event!

It's almost that time again! Every June Move United members are asked to renew their membership. Here are the items you can expect to be requested:


Member Dues

Affiliates $500, Chapters $350, Adaptive Clubs $300, Inclusive Clubs $250, Event Partners $75

Review your Member Benefits.


Member Agreement

Outlines the details of membership, including what members can expect from Move United, and what we expect from members to be in good standing


Member Survey

Measures the network’s impact across the country, which helps us in leveraging future funding, sponsorships, and developing policy, etc.

ATHLETE GRANT OPEN

The Move United Athlete Grant is available to adaptive athletes with a permanent physical disability. This grant is open to youth and adult athletes. Each Move United Athlete Grant will provide an individual athlete with $500 to be used to support the purchase of adaptive sports equipment or participation related fees (including travel expenses, competition fees, program fees, etc.). Athletes who receive this grant will be reimbursed upon providing receipt for purchases.

75 individual athlete grants are available.

MEMBER ENGAGEMENT SESSION: Cultural Competence: What is it and why is it important?

Cultural competence is defined as a set of values, behaviors or practices within a system or organization which enables individuals to work effectively cross culturally. It honors the beliefs, interpersonal styles and behaviors of the clients and those staff who are providing the service incorporating those values at the level of policy, administration, and practice. In short, the ability to practice effective communication in intercultural situations.

 

Cultural competency skills can help your organization be more efficient and effective as well as elevating customer service skills. Allowing your staff and clientele to know their importance to your organization. Join Tracey Crawford and Oralethea Davenport for this informative session.

MEET MOVE UNITED

Cayla Hammaker

Senior Education Manager

Cayla joined the Move United team in 2018. While obtaining her B.S. in Exercise and Movement Science at University of Vermont, Cayla completed an internship with Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports. Since then, she has played a volunteer role in several non-profit and volunteer-run groups serving individuals of all abilities. Prior to joining Move United, Cayla worked for Spaulding Rehab Hospital’s adaptive sports program in Boston, MA. Cayla currently has her PSIA Adaptive Alpine Level I Certification and in her free time enjoys skiing, traveling, running with her dog, and seeking new adventures.
