Meet your Residence Life Coordinator (RLC)

Moving into a new environment and starting university can be overwhelming, but know that there are lots of people at Queen's who have your back.

Your Residence Life Coordinators (RLCs) are passionate leaders who work closely with our Residence Dons and Residence Society (ResSoc) to guide your transition and ensure you feel connected as part of our campus community.

IT Support

Need Help?

The IT Support Centre is available on Move-In Weekend from Saturday, September 5, to Monday, September 7, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. If you need any assistance with your computer or ResNet connection, please call the IT Support Centre at (613) 533-6666. They can assist you over the phone or direct you to book an in-person appointment with one of our ResNet technicians.

IT Services can also assist you with questions concerning your student network identity (NetID), available software (including Microsoft Office), accessing SOLUS, accessing course material via OnQ, Internet services, and router support.

Router Setup Stations

For assistance with router setup, the Residence IT team will be available for hands-on assistance at stations in Victoria Hall and Jean Royce Hall on Saturday, September 5, 9 am – 5 pm.

Connect to ResNet

Here's what you need to know to connect to our high-speed ResNet system:

1. A Windows or MacOS-based personal computer with a currently supported operating system.
2. Ethernet connection – A 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet compatible network interface or an available USB port for an external network adapter.
3. Wireless Internet – If your computer is wireless-only, you will need to bring your own wireless router to connect to ResNet. There are a few buildings that have WiFi built-in, so remember to check our your individual building page for details.

Stay safe at COR

The Campus Observation Room (COR) is a voluntary, confidential and non-judgmental place where students who've had too much to drink can come to sleep.

Upcoming hours:

Sat Sept. 5 at 9 pm – 7 am on Sun Sept. 6

Sun Sept. 6 at 9 pm - 7 am on Mon Sept. 7

Mail & Parcel Delivery

Here are a handful of key reminders about mail delivery dates and processes!

• Use the correct mailing address! Remember to address your packages to your designated mail depot, not directly to your residence building. Address formats are on our website.
• The Mail Depot will begin distributing student parcels on September 6, 2026. Please avoid shipping medications, urgent course materials, or any items needed immediately upon arrival to the Mail Depot.
• Once your parcel is marked as delivered by the courier, please allow 24–48 hours before attempting to retrieve it. You'll need to wait for an email from the Front Desk with a Parcel Code which you must present, along with your student ID, when collecting your parcels.

The Residence Advisory Committee is seeking first-year student members

Want to contribute to the Residence experience? Consider joining an advisory committee!

The Residence Advisory Committee (RAC) provides a forum to voice opinions and ideas to the Housing and Ancillary Services administration. RAC serves as a consultative group, advising on decisions directly affecting students in residence, promoting students' well-being, and is complementary to the attainment of academic excellence.

Input and feedback are welcome on various matters pertaining to housing services, student programming, resources, and departmental budget priorities.

If this sounds like something you would like to get involved with, please email reslife@queensu.ca with a maximum 250-word statement outlining any relevant experience and why you would like to be involved.

Sign up for First-Year Intramurals!

One of the best ways to get active and get social is through our First-Year Intramural Sport Leagues – mixed leagues organized exclusively for incoming first-year students.

This fall, choose one of:

• Monday – Volleyball (Mixed)
• Tuesday – Basketball (Mixed)
• Wednesday – Dodgeball (Mixed)

How it works:

• Fill out the short sign-up form below to register your interest and tell us which sport you'd like to play.
• We'll use everyone's responses to build 8 teams in each league.
• You'll get a follow-up email confirming if you were placed on a team and next steps before the season kicks off.

Please note that we cannot guarantee a spot for everyone who fills out the form. However, there will be opportunities to join teams as free agents throughout the season.

Before you bring it: your last sustainable move-in tip!

Don't forget to pack your reusable water bottle and travel mug to avoid the $0.35 single-use cup fee at retail locations and help reduce waste. We're a water-bottle-free campus – see our map of water refill stations here.

This weekend's meal schedule

We are excited to host you in our dining halls this Saturday, September 5, for your first dinner with your new community and for breakfast on Sunday, September 6!

Be sure to check your scheduled location and times below. Your Residence Don will also communicate this information to you when you move in.

Lunch on Sunday, September 6, will be provided at the Tricolour Parade! The dining halls will operate on their typical schedule as of dinner on Sunday, September 6.

Be a good neighbour

This is a fun and exciting time; please remember to be respectful, responsible, and prioritize your well-being! The Have Fun, Be Safe site lists some resources to help you be a responsible neighbour and community member, and university services that can provide support if you need it: 

• University District Safety Initiative (UDSI) — in effect until Sept. 13 at 6 am 
• Local bylaws and fines (up to $2,000!)  
• Queen’s Student Code of Conduct (can apply to off-campus behaviours)  
• Safer substance use 
• Campus Observation Room (COR) — non-medical detox service  
• Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Services 

As part of the UDSI, the Gord Downie Pier will be closed to the public every evening from 7 pm to 6 am starting on August 28 until the morning of September 13, 2026.
