Youth Basketball
Dribble, shoot, score! Register youth ages 3.5 years- 14 years (8th grade) for our popular basketball program, where participants play in a fun, exciting, and positive environment. Participants will practice friendly competition, fair play, teamwork, and sportsmanship while learning the fundamentals of basketball and improving their technique. Practices are typically twice a week after school. Top players may go on to play for the Temple City All-Star Team and compete against other cities in the Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation (SCMAF) competition.
Teams for youth ages 3.5 years to grade 6 are formed at Live Oak Park or school sites (Cloverly, Longden, Emperor, and La Rosa). Teams for youth in grades 7 and 8 are formed at Live Oak Park and will practice at Live Oak Park and other sites.
Practice and game schedules are subject to change. Due to the size of the league, team placement requests will only be considered for siblings.
Inclement weather may cause practice and game cancellations - coaches will attempt to notify parents of cancellations, and parents may contact the Community Center Front Desk at (626) 579-0461 for information.
Games (Weekday evenings or Saturdays) are scheduled to begin the week of January 13, with playoff games from March 2-16. Game schedules will be available in late December and will be accessible online at teamsideline.com - search team schedules, enter zip code, and "Temple City Recreation."

Urban Forestry's New Tree Planting | |
|
Did you know that you can request a tree to be planted in the parkway of your home at no cost to you? Yes, you can! It’s as easy as submitting a request on the City’s website. Click here to submit the FORM. If you do not have a tree in your parkway or if you live on a corner lot and have only one tree the City encourages you to request a tree to be planted for free! Once a request has been submitted the City’s Urban Forestry team will assess your property for a new or an additional tree. If the Urban Forestry team finds that a new or additional tree can be planted in the parkway, one of three tree options will be selected from the City’s Master Tree List and planted in your parkway for free! It is the City’s goal to continue to build our urban forest, engage community pride, and beautify neighborhoods. Want to learn more? Contact Jennifer Venters, Parks and Recreation Secretary by calling (626) 579-0461 or by email jventers@templecity.us.
