Greetings!

I simply want to say just how much I love you all, especially as I have witnessed your passionate love and care this week. I have always known just how much you all love on those who are in distress and in need of a whole lot of love. This goes on almost every week as many of our people go through everything life presents to us. How deeply we have all been affected by the sudden passing of sweet little Lydia Skinner. What a precious little sweetheart gift from God. She is now with the Lord Jesus. The entire Skinner family is devastated, and we embrace them all with the love of the Lord Jesus Christ. Steve and Gay mean the world to us, and their son Jared and daughter-in-law Anna Leigh find themselves at a place where only the sovereign power and presence of our God and Father can be. Hundreds of our people have responded and continue to do so as they journey through their grief and sorrow. We will cast this all at the feet of Jesus.

It so happens that Choral Festival is being held in our church today (Thursday) and Friday. What a reunion of years of incredible worship ministry under Chuck Wallington’s leadership. Over 400 people are registered. Because so many are ministers of music from around the country, and so many of them have been blessed by Steve and Gay’s faithful ministry, we should not be surprised that many will take the opportunity to be at the funeral celebration of Lydia’s life - joining with us all on Friday afternoon at 5:00 PM in the sanctuary.

Just God’s people coming together around God’s people.

The work and amazing ministry of The Bridge just seems to flow like rivers of living water. We are celebrating 91 people who have given their lives to Christ in the last 14 months at The Bridge!! What a wonderful report. This Sunday, we take the important step of beginning a Life Group just for these new believers and others in the Northside Community. We have some of our faithful volunteers who will be facilitating the Bible Study, and we look forward to seeing even more people coming to new life in Jesus! These specific volunteers have all agreed to attend worship at 9:00 AM at FBS and then move to facilitate this Bridge Life Group.

This is so very exciting and I predict it will grow into something way beyond our thoughts and expectation. Jesus is in the middle of it all.

I love you all and cannot wait to see you with your Bibles in hand.

Your friend and pastor,
Join us in Prayer
An hour every Tuesday from noon to one in our Sanctuary to come and pray or be prayed for. You are welcome to come when you like and leave when you like.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

We are in the middle of a Prayer FOCUS for the next 52 weeks. Each Monday you will be sent a verse and devotion video to help guide you in prayer for the week. You can find this on the website and all socials as well. Thank you for your partnership as we unite our church family in prayer!

August Prayer Focus

Pray for SEND Relief, which is a collaboration between the International Mission Board and the North American Mission Board to open doors to the gospel through compassion ministry responding to natural disasters, caring for refugees and displaced families, and strengthening communities locally, nationally, and globally facing economic and physical crisis. Pray for efforts to help with the crisis of world hunger. Pray for the many efforts and initiatives of Vintage Pittsburgh’s SEND Relief Center as they minister to the needs of their community. Pray for them as they utilize their new prayer/counseling room at the SEND Center in Pittsburgh remodeled by an FBS missions team during their time in Pittsburgh last month.
The Bridge is a great place to volunteer!
Visit our website at www.thebridgeatgreenstreet.org and look for the Orientation video to learn how you can join The Bridge Volunteer Team.

We continue to be so blessed by your faithful generosity to First Baptist Spartanburg through your regular tithes and gifts to Vision 2020. As we move through the summer months, it is often easy to let our giving slide when we are out of town. With our online giving, it is easy to keep current on your tithes by setting up an auto recurring gift or making a one-time gift while you are away. Thank you for your commitment to maintain your faithful stewardship in every area of your life – time, talent, treasures and testimony.
As a reminder, here are a couple of the many options you can consider as you think about your financial stewardship:
If you are unable to attend church in person remember that you can use our online giving (one-time or recurring) platform through Realm at www.fbs.org/give or on the FBS app. It is available 24/7 and currently over 40% of all gifts are given online.
If you don’t wish to give online, you can mail your gift to 250 East Main St. Spartanburg, SC 29306.
Pray for CF Reunion!
Starting tonight (Aug. 4-5), music ministers from all over the country will gather to be refreshed and encouraged at Choral Festival. Pray that God will do a mighty work of ministry that will fuel the worship in sister churches all around!
