Clean water for God's thirsty children
We keep hearing that we’re all in this together. And of course, we are.

That is also how we're going to move forward – together . Government, private business, the nonprofit sector – each has an important role in our country’s recovery.

The government is doing what it can in terms of unemployment benefits and cash to individuals. Businesses are receiving assistance so they will be able to reopen and welcome people back to their jobs.

But our representatives understand the government can't do it alone. They recognize the importance of the nonprofit organizations that provide an important part of the safety net for those in need. With that in mind, they increased tax incentives for those making charitable contributions.

While this will encourage giving, Water With Blessings is fortunate. We already have a committed family of donors who have helped equip and train more than 115,000 Water Women around the world.

But please take a look – perhaps one of these changes will benefit you.
The CARE Act includes tax incentives to encourage charitable giving
New tax incentives include:

$300 per person ($600 per married couple) reduction in taxable income on your 2020 tax return for donors who do not itemize their tax deductions (those taking the standard deduction). All taxpayers would be eligible to take the deduction, unlike the standard charitable contribution deduction which provides a tax benefit only to taxpayers who itemize their deductions. (The new deduction would not apply to non-cash gifts or to gifts contributed to donor advised funds.)

For individuals who do itemize their tax deductions, the limit on deductions for contributions, ordinarily 50% of adjusted gross income (AGI) or 60% for cash, is suspended for 2020.

For corporations, the limit on deductions for contributions, ordinarily 10% of AGI, is elevated to 20% for 2020.
These new tax benefits are an ideal fit with our Sustainers campaign, which gives our donors an opportunity to support Water Women on a monthly basis.
$12.50 each month will equip and train 2 Water Women each year. That makes a total of eight families drinking clean water!
Also, we are celebrating friends of God's thirsty children who stepped forward this week with a combined gift of $17,000 from their retirement accounts.

Be like these anonymous friends! and make your required IRA distribution without increasing your tax burden

Walking together on the road to Emmaus...
The story of the two disciples walking to Emmaus has an important message for us in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

With the Crucifixion still fresh in their minds, and not aware of the Resurrection, they are confused, disheartened, doubtful. They have lost hope. So focused on the negative, they are unable to understand that Jesus is there, walking with them.

But as they listen again to the Good News, as the Scriptures are explained by this stranger, the flames of faith and hope are rekindled: “Were not our hearts burning within us…?” Then, gathered at the table, breaking bread together, their eyes are opened, their faith restored.

One of the disciples is unnamed, giving each of us the opportunity to put ourselves on that road. And that is where we are today. Let us listen to that voice, let our eyes be opened.

Together with our families and friends, in our communities, we can move forward together, supporting one another.
Our Friday Morning Get-Together

The Coffee is Optional
(Tea is fine too...)
The Coffee Chats have become a great way to end our week during this time of isolation. The fellowship and support from our friends helps keep our spirits up and hope alive.

But we're always looking for more people to join us.

This week we will focus on the tax benefits of the new CARE Act, and how this will help Water With Blessings and our family of donors.

Please consider joining us this coming Friday at 9am. Make sure your cup is filled with your choice of morning beverage, hot or cold, and prepare to be inspired.

Participating is simple. Click on the button below, and we will contact you with further information.
We believe every child should be drinking clean water. Are you with us?
