Dear Friends,

I hope that you are safe and well as our community fights against COVID-19. No industry or community has gone unaffected by this crisis, and we hold each of you in our thoughts during this time. With each passing day, we become more resolved to stand on behalf of our members and each other.

Here’s an update on what we are doing and how you can help:

Moving Forward with Drop-By Services
Staff members Melany, Vivian, Annette, Robbie, Annalise, and Krista distribute care kits including items donated by Altrusa Int'l Downtown Dallas. Thank you to Erin Sanders and Richard Plinck for donating lunch boxes for members to take on the go.
Along with implementing virtual counseling services that allow our counselors to conduct sessions with members, we have added drop-by services for members in need of basic items . Twice per week, our members will be able to stop by for kits that include food, hygiene items and self-care tools (journals, crossword puzzles). Members and staff alike are practicing safe social distancing behaviors, allowing us to fill these important needs in creative ways.

If you would like to help fill our care kits, shop our Amazon Wish List today .
Moving Forward with Your Help
As a part of our women’s program, members receive financial incentives for completing classes and making progress towards their goals in the areas of case management, counseling and economic empowerment. We were celebrating graduations and phase-up ceremonies for women moving from one level of our program to the next, until everything stopped.

Today, the economic impact of the COVID-19 crisis has been immediate for many of us, including our survivors. In just one week, 23 women who receive services at NFNL have either lost their jobs, had hours cut, or worked zero hours as a result of the pandemic.  Now, more than ever, our women need assistance with utilities, housing, and food. You can help us continue providing interim financial assistance for these brave survivors by donating today.
Moving Forward Through Mindfulness

Our program staff has created videos to help members cope with the emotional stress and trauma of living through the pandemic. They are sharing everything from yoga classes to videos of pets as a way to connect during this time of social distancing. Here’s a fun video on Bubble Art, by Hillary, that I hope will help keep you calm and centered too, as we move forward together.
Thank you for taking a Stand For Her,
Kim Robinson
