Update from our Regional Board
and Board President, Rev. Charli Tupper

Hi Everyone,

I am trusting that we are all well and learning new tricks of doing ministry in new ways daily. The Regional Board of Trustees met in April, and I wanted to let you know what we are working on:

Focus Groups · Youth Ministry · CPA Review ·
UWM Loaves and Fishes Program

Focus Groups
magnifying glass to look closely at silhouetted crowd reveals smiling faces in color
A couple of years ago, we established a new vision, mission, and core values with the assistance of Rev. Denese Schellink. Now we want to hear from you.

We are all facing a wide range of changes that are affecting all areas of our lives. So we are organizing focus groups as an opportunity for you to share with us how we might express our vision, mission, and core values.

Click to sign-up for a group by choosing the date and time that works for you.  We are limiting the size of the groups in order to have time to hear what you have to say.

To the right, you will find the vision, mission and core values along with the questions we wish to ask.

MISSION: We serve, connect, and support our regional Unity community and ministries.
VISION: A world powerfully transformed through the growing movement of shared spiritual awakening.
Spirit Led
We are guided by Spirit in all that we do.
We welcome diversity and foster an equitable culture of oneness.
We honor our heritage while intentionally seeking evolution and expansion.
We affirm lucidity in purpose and intent; we act with ease and grace.
We share our spiritual understanding, connecting in a manner that is current with today’s world.
1.  What services are you interested in having the Region provide?
2.  In what specific ways can the Region help you and your ministry?
3.  What is the Region already doing well that you want to see continue?
Please join us for one of the sessions. We are eager to hear what you have to say.
Regional Youth Ministry
It came to our attention that our Youth Ministry Events Director cannot be paid as a contractor. We are looking at how to make the adjustments to be in compliance with the new California law. Angie Keyes is remaining with the Region and is doing good work during this time with the teens of the region.
CPA Review
We are in the process of having a CPA Review of our accounting books. This is not because we think there is something amiss. We believe that it is good stewardship to perform such a review, and it has not been done for several years.
Loaves and Fishes Program
We voted to donate $2,000 to UWM’s new Loaves and Fishes program. UWM is matching our funds for a total of $4,000 added to this fund to assist ministries during this time. Learn more at:    https://www.unityworldwideministries.org/loaves-fishes-fund
Sending blessings of love and grace to all.
Grace-filled Blessings,
Rev. Charli Tupper, President
Alhambra Foundation Innovation Prize
The Alhambra Foundation would like to celebrate innovation by offering an award, to be given at the SW Region Conference in October.
Our mission to pioneer and expand new ministries includes new avenues of ministry, something we're all experimenting with these days.
Send us examples of alternative programs or new ways to approach ministry – you can nominate your own ministry or someone else’s within our SW Region.
Our Alhambra Foundation Board will evaluate nominee programs on criteria including originality, success, sustainability, creativity, and potential to spread the Unity message.
One selected nominee will be awarded a cash prize of up to $1000 to boost that avenue of ministry and assist in its success.
Two runners up will receive recognition at the ceremony, sharing the idea and promoting it within the region (and potentially to the UWH and UWM reps at the banquet, if that is when it’s held) they may also receive smaller amounts of cash, matching, or non-cash awards such as coaching, tech support, online promotion, etc.
We will post the top 5 applicants on our website and allow the region to learn about the programs and vote as well. Award to be given during the banquet (or equivalent event) at the SW Region Conference in October.
Share your programs with us and let us help you grow them!

Email your nominations to us at info@unityalhambra.org

Looking forward, onward and upward!

Youth and Family Ministry Update
from Angie Keyes, Southwest Region Youth and Family Ministry Event Director

This has been a challenging, but inspiring, time in Youth and Family Ministry. Since we have had to take a break from in-person classes, our Southwest Region youth directors have been working together to assist each other in supporting our youth. Many of our churches have started online Sunday lessons and videos for the children, and regionally we have been holding online classes for our teens each weekend. Currently, we are working together to create an online Official Rally for our Y.O.U. and online options for our Summer Camps.

As we move forward in supporting our ministries in this new way, I want to assure you that I am here to support your youth and youth team in any way I can. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or requests that you have. I know that together we will create new and exciting ways to keep our youth connected until we can be together in person.

I am holding you in prayer and affirming perfect health and wholeness for all.
