Mrs. Carla Hudson Named Principal of

Hosack Elementary

Dear Hosak Elementary Parents/Guardians,

We are pleased to announce that on June 8, 2022, the North Allegheny Board of School Directors approved the hiring of Mrs. Carla Hudson as Principal of Hosack Elementary effective immediately.

When talking to Mrs. Hudson about this new opportunity, she shared: “I am so excited to officially be part of the Hosack Community. Everyone has been so welcoming and supportive during my transition. I have quickly learned what a special school Hosack is, filled with teachers and staff that are passionate about students, students who are eager to learn, and families that are beyond supportive. Being named principal is truly an honor.”

Mrs. Hudson most recently served as the Interim Principal of Hosack Elementary since January 2022. Six years ago, Mrs. Hudson joined NASD as an Assistant Principal at McKnight Elementary School. During her tenure, Mrs. Hudson has led initiatives which include the implementation of the Elementary MTSS program, the restructure of the Elementary Well Check/SAP program and Academic Student Referral System, and served as the administrative liaison for the Elementary English Language Arts Department, Reading Specialists, and MTSS Interventionists.

In August 2020, Mrs. Hudson transitioned to a role as the North Allegheny Cyber Academy principal and played an integral role in supporting the needs of elementary students and programs virtually.

Prior to joining North Allegheny, Mrs. Hudson served as the Principal of Carnegie Elementary School in the Carlynton School District. Mrs. Hudson reestablished a Response to Intervention and Instruction Program, collaborated on several grants that brought in more than $100,000 for the district, and was able to increase student achievement and growth. Mrs. Hudson also served as the Coordinator of Elementary Education for the Carlynton School District. Prior to working in administration, she was a teacher in the Canon McMillan School District where she taught Kindergarten and developed and taught the first Autistic Support classroom in the district.

Mrs. Hudson received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Duquesne University and Master of Science in Special Education from Slippery Rock University. Mrs. Hudson received her K-12 Principal Certification and her Supervisor of Special Education Certificate from Duquesne University and her Superintendent Letter of Eligibility from California University of PA.

Please join me in congratulating Mrs. Hudson!

Sincerely,

Dr. Melissa Friez

Superintendent
