ALL YOU NEED IS TEA

'Someone put a Shamrock in my Tea!'

Dear Ruth,

Are you ready for St. Paddy's Day?

St. Patrick's Day is historically observed through a number of traditions. These include preparing food like corned beef and cabbage, Irish Stew, musical gatherings called "céilí," and decorating with symbols like shamrocks and leprechauns.

It turns out, leprechauns are supposedly why we wear green on St. Patrick's Day: as allegedly they can't see the colour green, so they won't be able to see you and pinch you if you're rocking emerald or chartreuse shades.

Warm wishes and... here's your Gaelic lesson for today...

"Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona duit!" (Pronounced: Law ay-luh Paw-drig sun-uh ditch!) – "Happy St. Patrick's Day to you!"

"Cuir an citeal ar siúl!" (Pronounced: Kur un kit-uhl ar shool!) – "Get the kettle on!"

Cheers & Bottoms Up!

This month's flavour - Magical Mint

It's "Magically Delicious"

Forget your keys? Can't remember your email password?

You need a little Magical Mint, blended with the memory-enhancing power of peppermint, gingko and turmeric.

According to an experiment conducted by researchers at the British Psychological Society's 2016 Annual Conference, peppermint tea may improve both long-term and working memory. During the experiment, 180 participants were randomly offered a cup of peppermint tea, chamomile, or hot water, and given a questionnaire related to their mood. Twenty minutes after drinking their beverage, they were given a test to assess their memory, followed by an additional mood questionnaire.

If you guessed that peppermint improved participant memory, you're correct! Post-conference analysis showed that participants who drank the peppermint tea significantly showed significant improvements in memory and alertness, compared to those who drank hot water or chamomile. (There's a reason chamomile is known as sleepy-time tea!)

Robert and Jerry's book: 'RIBBONS OF RUST' is available on Amazon.

The story of The Beatles has been covered thousands of times in books, memoirs, discographies, and academic tomes. And yet, many of these works focus on their history with little regard to how they experienced their own times. The artistic entity comprised of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, along with producer George Martin, did not operate in a bubble: they were inspired and challenged by the sounds going on around them.

Ribbons of Rust: The Beatles’ Recording History In Context presents their story like never before, interactively immersing you in the sounds of the music they listened to and created along with the times they inhabited. Richly illustrated with period ephemera throughout, this first volume of takes you along with the four individuals who became The Beatles, from the first inspiring sounds they heard to those nascent original compositions and covers they committed to recording tape (composed of iron oxide bonded to polyethylene terephthalate—“ribbons of rust”).

With A Little Help From My Scones: An Historically British Culinary Compendium

Author & Illustrator Ruth McCartney is a passionate foodie, she represents several Chefs & Restaurants in the Media/PR field, and has researched traditional and rare British dishes for this book. Many are fast disappearing, and no known photographs exist, thus this tasty tome aims to resurrect recipes of yesteryear, along with their origin stories and newly created imagery for you to treasure and pass on, just like Grandma did!

It even features a playful chapter with imaginary recipes inspired by the Beatles' song "Savoy Truffle," written by George Harrison about Eric Clapton's love for sweets.

In addition to the recipes, there are sections dedicated to traditional holiday foods like Irish Stew & Soda Bread for St. Paddy's, Simnel Cake for Mothering Sunday, Haggis, and Mince Pies at Christmas, along with the backstories of British classics such as Posset, Cranachan, Eton Mess, and Syllabub. Each recipe includes a half-page illustration, and a QR code grants purchasers access to a full-color PDF version.

Our traditional "Holiday Foods" section reveals where Boxing Day got its' name, and what foods to eat on which dates.
