October 16, 2026

Jesus compares the Kingdom of God to things that seem almost insignificant: a tiny mustard seed and a small amount of yeast. Neither looks impressive at first. But given time, both produce something far greater than their beginnings would suggest. We often want God to do something big, obvious, and immediate. Jesus reminds us that God's Kingdom often begins quietly. A conversation. A prayer. An act of kindness. One person choosing faithfulness. One small step of obedience. We shouldn't underestimate what God can do with something small that is surrendered to Him.

Michael Turner, Senior Pastor, will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Stephen Fitch, Congregational Care & Assimilation Pastor, will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services.

For those worshiping remotely, you're invited to watch our services online, on Facebook and YouTube.

GO Week

GO Week starts this Sunday! GO Week is our church-wide movement to take the love of Christ into our local communities. Together with 25 partners and ministries, we've created a variety of ways to serve, learn and pray for kids, students, adults, senior adults and families. Our prayer is that God will use this week to strengthen the bond between our people and our partners and bring Kingdom impact to our city. There's still time to sign up for opportunities happening October 17-25 at mthorebchurch.org/goweek. You can also stop by the GO Week table on Sunday and we'll gladly help you register.

CAIN

We're so excited to host CAIN in concert on Friday, October 30, and we still need a few volunteers! We're looking for 8 volunteers to help at the merchandise tables from 4:30–10:30 PM (dinner provided) and 10 volunteers for stage load-in from 9:00 AM– 12:00 PM and/or load-out from 9:00–11:00 PM. Volunteers must be at least 18. To serve, email concerts@mthorebchurch.org and tell us which team you'd like to join.

Already have tickets, either purchased or through your Friends of Music sponsorship? You can pick them up at the welcome desk outside the auditorium.

All Saints Day

We will celebrate All Saints Day on Sunday, November 1. Starting this Sunday, a special banner will be in the Narthex at the Guest Services desk in the East building. Next to it you'll find paper and bells. Write the names of family and friends who have passed this year, then pin them to the banner in remembrance. The banner moves into the Sanctuary for worship on November 1. You're welcome to take part during church business hours, whenever it is most meaningful for you and your family, no matter which service you attend.

Operation Christmas Child

Our Operation Christmas Child shoebox campaign is officially underway! Pick up a brochure and a box in the lobby on the 25th, then bring your filled box back on November 1 or November 8. If you'd rather shop from home, you can build a box online at mthorebchurch.org/missions. Just select the OCC link. As you pack, would you pray for the child who will receive your box? Pray before, during and after. One small shoebox can mean so much.

Membership Class

Whether you’re exploring Mt. Horeb or ready to join, you’re invited to our Membership Class on Sunday, November 8 from 3–5 PM in Room 861. You’ll have the opportunity to join at the end of the class or come back to a future class if you’d like more time or information. Visit mthorebchurch.org/membership or register through the Mt. Horeb app.

Baptism Class

Our Baptism Class for all ages is happening Sunday, November 8 at 5 PM in Room 861. As Global Methodists, we believe baptism is an outward sign of the inward work God is doing in our lives, and because His work is perfect, we practice one baptism. If you or your child has never been baptized, or if you’d like to learn more, we’d love to have you join us. After attending the class, you can choose from one of our upcoming in-service baptism dates. This class covers both sprinkling and immersion. Register now at mthorebchurch.org/baptism or through the Mt. Horeb app.

Online Bulletin
