November 14, 2025

James confronts the destructive pull of pride and worldliness. Quarrels, envy and selfish desires arise when we live for ourselves rather than submitting to God. The call is simple yet hard: humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up. This week we’ll see that true faith isn’t about demanding our own way but about

surrendering to God’s will in dependence and humility.

Michael Turner, Senior Pastor, will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Trevor Miller, Faith Formation Pastor, will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services.

For those worshiping remotely, you're invited to watch our services online, on Facebook and YouTube.

Christmas: From Family to Family

It is time for our annual Christmas: From Family to Family gift collection. Visit the tables as you exit the worship services this Sunday to select a "gift tag" you plan to purchase. It will have a child's gender, age and an identified want and/or need, including helpful likes/dislikes. All the information you need, including when to bring back the gifts, will be found at the tables on Sunday and at mthorebchurch.org/missions.

We can only accept new, unused items. Please include the tag when you bring it back to us. We can't wait to serve with you this Christmas as we spread the hope and joy of the Gospel from family to family!

Prayer & Healing Service

As part of our regular services on November 23, we will have Prayer and Healing services in the Auditorium and Sanctuary. We will have a time for you to come to stations set up across the rooms and voice your prayer requests to one of our prayer team members, who will pray over you. Make plans to attend one of these powerful services next Sunday.

Thanksgiving: From Family to Family

Would you like to adopt a local family this Thanksgiving?

Your family can shop for groceries and Thanksgiving Day meal ingredients and deliver them to a local family who could use a blessing on Sunday, November 23.

Bring your shopping list items at 4:00 PM to the Mt. Horeb Auditorium. At that time, you will receive the name and address of a family that has already been contacted and is eager to receive your basket. Most families will be available to receive their basket on Sunday immediately following the packing party. Other families may need for you to call and schedule an alternative delivery time.

You provide the groceries and a laundry basket. A shopping list is provided on the registration page below. Mt. Horeb will provide the meat, collard greens and the address of the family that you will deliver to.

*Note we have modified the shopping list to provide a week's worth of food in addition to a Thanksgiving meal because the children are out of school all week and will not receive breakfast or lunch.

For questions or more information, contact Jessica Coates.

"If you offer your food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted, then your light shall rise in the darkness and your gloom be like the noonday." Isaiah 58:10

New Men’s Small Group

Throughout December, a new men’s small group will meet every Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Unumb Place in Lexington (201 Duffie Drive). They will play ultimate football (ultimate frisbee with a football) and work through a study of the Gospel of Mark. This group is open to men aged 18 and older who are physically willing and able to participate in play. If you have questions, want to register, or want to learn about other small group opportunities, please email Pastor Rachel.

Celebrate your Bible Recap Journey!

Every thread represents the early mornings, late nights, and quiet moments spent in God’s Word. When you put it on, you’re reminded that you didn’t just read words on a page; you journeyed with God from Genesis to Revelation.

Order a t-shirt that celebrates every chapter you completed because He's where the joy is! We will hand the shirts out on Sunday, January 4, 2026.

If you can't be here on Sunday morning, stay connected through our online bulletin. You can see our weekly financial report as well as a list of needs to pray over. Click here to view our weekly bulletin.

Update to our Facilities Reminder

Construction has begun on the restrooms outside the Fellowship Hall, and they are currently out of service. The goal is to have everything completed by Christmas. After that, we'll move on to renovating the next set of restrooms in the building. Thank you in advance for your patience as we undertake these renovations. We hope you will be as excited as we are to see the finished product!
