October 23, 2026
A man asks Jesus a simple question: "Who is my neighbor?" Jesus responds with a story that completely changes the question. A wounded man is ignored by religious people but helped by a Samaritan - someone his audience would have considered an outsider and enemy. Jesus challenges us to stop defining our neighbor by who is convenient, comfortable or like us. Love isn't simply something we feel. It's something we do.
Trevor Miller, Faith Formation Pastor, will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Chris Morgan, Pastoral Intern, will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services.
For those worshiping remotely, you're invited to watch our services online, on Facebook and YouTube.

All Saints Day
We will celebrate All Saints Day on Sunday, November 1. Starting this Sunday, a special banner will be in the Narthex at the Guest Services desk in the East building. Next to it you'll find paper and bells. Write the names of family and friends who have passed this year, then pin them to the banner in remembrance. The banner moves into the Sanctuary for worship on November 1. You're welcome to take part during church business hours - whenever it is most meaningful for you and your family, no matter which service you attend.

Operation Christmas Child
Our Operation Christmas Child shoebox campaign is officially underway! Pick up a brochure and a box in the lobby this Sunday, then bring your box back on November 1 or 8. Please fill it all the way to the top, because every bit of space is a chance to bless a child. If you'd rather shop from home, you can build a box online. As you pack, would you pray for the child who will receive your box? Pray before, during and after. One full shoebox can mean so much. Visit mthorebchurch.org/missions for more information.

Baptism Class
Our Baptism Class for all ages is happening Sunday, November 8 at 5 PM in Room 861. As Global Methodists, we believe baptism is an outward sign of the inward work God is doing in our lives, and because His work is perfect, we practice one baptism. If you or your child has never been baptized, or if you’d like to learn more, we’d love to have you join us. After attending the class, you can choose from one of our upcoming in-service baptism dates. This class covers both sprinkling and immersion. Register now at mthorebchurch.org/baptism or through the Mt. Horeb app.

For those experiencing separation or divorce, Surviving the Holidays, sponsored by DivorceCare®, meets Wednesday, November 18 from 6:00-8:00 PM in Room 547. To register, contact Doreen Michaels at care@mthorebchurch.org.

Protecting Our Church Family from Scams
Sadly, scammers sometimes pose as pastors and staff to reach out to church families by email or text. We want you to feel confident about what is really from us. Any email from a Mt. Horeb staff member will come from name@mthorebchurch.org. Our staff will never ask you to buy gift cards or make a purchase of any kind. If a message asks for that, it is not from us.
Whether you are giving, registering for an event or paying for something at church, you can do it through Pushpay. If a message asks you to send money in any other way, such as gift cards, a wire transfer or a payment app, please don't respond.
A few simple habits can help keep you safe:
- Look at the full email address or phone number, not just the name that shows up.
- Be cautious of messages that create urgency or ask you to keep something secret.
- Don't click links or open attachments you weren't expecting.
- Never share passwords, verification codes or banking details by email or text.
- When in doubt, contact the person directly using a phone number or email you already know is theirs.
If you receive a suspicious message that appears to come from our church, please let our office know. We are grateful for you and want to help keep our community safe.
