July 31, 2026

On the night before facing Esau, Jacob finds himself wrestling with God through the darkness until daybreak. The encounter leaves him wounded, humbled, and forever changed. Jacob enters the night clinging to fear and control, but he leaves with a new name and a deeper dependence on God. This message explores surrender, perseverance, identity and how spiritual growth often comes through painful encounters that reshape who we are.

Erik Grayson, GMC of SC Conference Superintendent, will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Michael Turner, Senior Pastor, will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services.

For those worshiping remotely, you're invited to watch our services online, on Facebook and YouTube.

MIDWEEK

We are excited for you to have a chance to grow and mature this fall through the classes we are offering on Wednesday nights. Classes will begin August 12 and run through September 23. Childcare will be available through our Kids Programming.

You can register for these classes here.

Pastor's Study - The Book of Hebrews

Led by Chris Morgan | Sanctuary

Join our 7-week MidWeek class as we dive into Hebrews with the Pastor's Study. The book of Hebrews was written to people in crisis. They were persecuted, tempted by the rampant sin around them and doubting their faith in Jesus. It was not so different than what many of us go through today. Join Dr. Derwin Gray in this eight-session series as he walks through Hebrews, teaching us how to live for Jesus in every season of life. Hebrews shows us that Jesus is better than anything the world can offer. We simply need to answer, “Am I willing to trust Him above everything else?”

Living Faithfully Discipleship Rhythm

Led by Jay Collins | Fellowship Hall

A disciple of Jesus lives faithfully, following Jesus with consistent devotion. Using the videos from our Alpha curriculum, we will look at what it means to pursue the Discipleship Rhythm of Living Faithfully actively. Through discussion, guided practice and real-life tools, you’ll learn how to live out your faith in sustainable and life-giving ways. Whether you're new to your faith or looking to deepen your walk with Jesus, Living Faithfully will give you practical ways to live what you believe. Come ready to engage, reflect and grow.

Trust-Based Relational Intervention

Kersey Chapel

Are you parenting, caring for or working with a child who has experienced trauma or early adversity? This class will introduce you to TBRI: an attachment-based, trauma-informed approach designed to help children heal and thrive. You'll learn practical tools built around three principles: Empowering (meeting physical needs), Connecting (building trust and attachment) and Correcting (responding to fear-based behaviors with compassion instead of frustration). Whether you're a parent, foster or adoptive caregiver, teacher or anyone who works with children, this class will equip you to see the whole child and help them reach their highest potential.

Abide: Prayer & Worship Night

Mark your calendars for Friday, August 14. We’re hosting Abide, a night of open prayer and worship in the Kersey Chapel, starting at 6:30 PM. It’s a two-hour block with no set schedule: worship, pray, be prayed for by one of our prayer partners or just sit and abide in God’s presence. Come as you are and stay as long as you need, we’re glad to have you.

Small Group Launch

We aren't meant to do life alone. Fall Small Group Launch is now open.

The launch will take place on August 16 and 23 in the Student Room from 9:00 to 10:15 AM. Deadline to register is August 10.

In a world where it's easy to feel disconnected, God created us to grow in faith together. At Mt. Horeb, we believe disciples of Jesus live communally: encouraging one another, studying Scripture together, praying for each other and walking through life side by side. A small group is more than a weekly meeting. It's a place to belong, build meaningful friendships and deepen your relationship with Christ. Whether you're a young adult, a parent, an empty nester, single or simply looking for a place to connect, there's a group where you can grow and thrive.

Mt. Horeb Golf Classic

Monday, August 17 is the Mt. Horeb Golf Classic, benefiting our Backpack Ministry. For 16 years we’ve partnered with Harvest Hope Food Bank, so over 500 kids in Lexington School District 1 get food every weekend during the school year. You don’t have to play to get involved. We offer sponsorships at every level, including Club House sponsorships for carts, food and prizes, great for families or small groups. Last year’s tournament raised $28,000 and added 75 kids to the program.
