It’s easy to say we have faith—but James pushes us to ask, does my life back

it up? Faith without action is empty, like words without meaning. James reminds us that real faith is more than intellectual agreement or religious talk; it’s a living trust in God that shows up in the way we love and serve others. Just as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is lifeless. This week we’ll discover that genuine faith always moves us to action.

Rachel Carosiello, Adult Discipleship Pastor, will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Michael Turner, Senior Pastor, will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services.

For those worshiping remotely, you're invited to watch our services online, on Facebook and YouTube.

All Saints Sunday

We will celebrate All Saints Sunday this Sunday. In addition to lighting candles in all our services, we will also include another meaningful element. We have a special banner in the Narthex located at the Guest Services desk in the East building, which will be moved into the Sanctuary for the worship service.

You will find pieces of paper and bells next to the banner for you to write the names of family and friends who have passed, and you can pin both to the banner in remembrance. The banner will be available during church business hours, so come when it is most meaningful for you and your family. It doesn’t matter which service you attend; this symbolic act is open to everyone who would like to take part.

Operation Christmas Child

Our Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Campaign is underway. Brochures and boxes are available in the lobby. You may return your filled boxes on November 2 or November 9. You can also build a box online by visiting mthorebchurch.org/missions and selecting the Operation Christmas Child link.

Operation Christmas Child asks that you pray for the child who will receive your box before, during and after you fill it. All the information for this year’s collection and the link for online boxes can be found by visiting the link above.

Immersion Baptisms

Our next in-service immersion baptism will be Sunday, November 9 in our Contemporary services. As Global Methodists, we believe that baptism is an outward sign of an inward work that God is doing in our lives and because God’s work is perfect, we believe in only being baptized once.

If you’ve never been baptized and wish to experience full immersion but haven’t attended a baptism class, please email us at baptism@mthorebchurch.org. Let us know if November 9 works for you, and we’ll be in touch. If you’ve already attended a class and confirmed this date, expect to receive an email from us in the next few weeks.

Surviving the Holidays

Holidays can be some of the most difficult times after your life has changed. They are typically steeped with tradition when families gather and everyone around you seems to be celebrating. All of this can make holidays especially hard when you are experiencing grief or pain. Mt. Horeb is offering two separate seminars in November to navigate this challenging season.

Join us as Stephen Ministry provides a time of how to deal with grief during the holidays while remembering our loved ones together. Surviving the Holidays sponsored by GriefShare® will be Tuesday, November 11 in the Student Room from 6:30-8:00 PM. To register, contact Dell Simpson at

dell.simpson@mthorebchurch.org.

For those experiencing separation and/or divorce, join us for Surviving the Holidays

sponsored by DivorceCare® on Wednesday, November 19 in the Fellowship Hall from 6:00-8:00 PM. To register, contact Doreen Michaels at gmadory@yahoo.com

Senior Adults Luncheon

Bring a friend and join us for the Mt. Horeb Senior Adults Annual Holiday Luncheon on Wednesday, November 19 at 11:30 AM in the Auditorium in the West Building. Our program will feature "Sisterhood," a women's quartet made up of our very own Traditional Worship Director, Melodie Griffin and her childhood friends. Heather Atkinson, Paige Brockett, Lisa Wall and Melodie all grew up in Hartsville, SC and love singing God's praises. Because they grew up singing together, their tight harmonies and unified hearts deliver a powerful Spirit-filled message every time they sing. You won't want to miss this very inspiring program.

Registration is required by Monday, November 17.

Reserve your spot now.

For more information, please contact Kathy Aldridge, our Senior Adults Ministry Administrator at senioradults@mthorebchurch.org.

Christmas Musical

Many have made Mt. Horeb’s Christmas musical an annual tradition. We invite you to join us at one of our four performances in the Auditorium.

Saturday, December 6 | 5:00 and 7:00 PM

Sunday, December 7 | 9:00 and 10:45 AM

There will not be services in the Sanctuary as our worship teams are coming together to create a special experience to celebrate the Christmas season. You don’t want to miss this spectacular celebration. Mark your calendars now! The nursery will be provided for children three years and under during the 5:00 PM, 9:00 AM and 10:45 AM services.

Upcoming Concerts

We are excited to announce our next 2 concerts in our Concerts at Mt. Horeb series. On February 6 we welcome 10-time Dove award winners Karen Peck and New River with their distinctive Southern Gospel sound. Then on March 6 we will host 8-time Dove award winner and one of the most influential voices in contemporary Christian music today, Tauren Wells. Online Bulletin

Update to our Facilities

We are excited to let you know we will be doing some remolding to our current restrooms in the East building. We will start with the restrooms outside the Fellowship Hall. We're talking about brand new floor and ceiling tiles, fresh paint, modern toilets, upgraded fixtures and stylish lighting. The goal is to have everything completed by Christmas. After that, we'll be moving on to renovating the next set of restrooms in that building. Thank you in advance for your patience as we do these renovations and we hope you will be as excited as we are to see the finished product!
