December 19, 2025

On a quiet night in Bethlehem, heaven broke its silence. Angels filled the sky, shepherds trembled in awe and God’s glory was revealed in the most unexpected

way. The shepherds saw, believed and went away rejoicing. The joy of revelation is the joy of seeing God for who He truly is, not distant or detached, but near and full of love. Christmas reminds us that joy isn’t found in what we have, but in who has come. How do we respond to the revelation of God? Our greatest joy is found in the revelation of God’s love through Jesus Christ. Join us this Sunday for a meaningful message on the Joy of Revelation.

Jeff Kersey, Pastor Emeritus, will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Bill Bouknight, Retired GMC Guest Pastor, will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services.

For those worshiping remotely, you're invited to watch our services online, on Facebook and YouTube.

Advent Offering

Christian communities around the world celebrate Advent as a season of remembering and celebrating the arrival of Jesus on Earth. At Mt. Horeb, we choose to celebrate by taking a special offering to advance the kingdom of God. This year, our Advent offering will support a local and global church.

Globally, we’ll help rebuild a church in India led by our friend and former intern, Prasanth Bethu. In a city where less than 5% of the population is Christian, their church has grown to over 1,500 members despite facing adversity, including a fire that destroyed their building on May 31. With faith and determination, they cleared the rubble and began rebuilding, currently worshiping in a temporary space while

dreaming of restoring their auditorium.

Locally, we’ll support a growing Global Methodist Church in the Columbia area. By partnering with them, we aim to enhance their mission and broaden their outreach within the community. As Acts 1:8 reminds us, we are called to be witnesses everywhere—from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth.

Please join us in making a positive impact in Columbia and India. You can give at mthorebchurch.org/give by selecting “Advent Offering" in the Fund dropdown menu.

Christmas Eve Services

Traditional Services in the Sanctuary at 11:00 AM (Communion) & 7:00 PM

Contemporary Services in the Auditorium at 2:00, 5:00, 7:00 & 9:00 PM

Childcare is provided for infants through 5 year olds, who are not yet attending Kindergarten, during the 11:00, 2:00 and 5:00 PM services.

In order for us to bring the best possible worship experience to our congregation and community for Christmas Eve, we need your help. We have opportunities for you to serve such as greeting, door holders or ushering. If you are interested, please email Katelyn Hall at guestservices@mthorebchurch.org.

December 28 Services

Join us for our last worship service of 2025! There will be a 9:00 AM Traditional Service in the Sanctuary and a 10:45 AM Contemporary Service in the Auditorium. These services will not be streamed. This will be a great way to close out the year together.

Membership Class

Whether you are seeking information about the church or are ready to join, you are invited to attend our Membership Class on Sunday, January 11 from 3 to 5 PM in Room 820. Those who wish to join the church will have that opportunity at the end of the class, and those who are not ready yet can return to a future class for additional information and/or to join. You can register at mthorebchurch.org/membership or through our Mt. Horeb app.

Baptism Class

Our Baptism Class for all ages will be held on Sunday, January 11 at 5 PM in Room 820. As Global Methodists, we believe that baptism is an outward sign of an inward work that God is doing in our lives and because God’s work is perfect, we believe in only being baptized once. If you or your child is someone who has never been baptized or if you’d like to learn more about baptism, please plan to attend. Once you attend, you can choose from one of our scheduled in-service baptism dates. Register at mthorebchurch.org/baptism.

2026 Spring MidWeek Classes

As disciples of Jesus, we believe that we are called to live faithfully in rhythm with God. While attending Sunday Morning worship is a great place to start, living in-step requires us to be walking with Jesus each and every day. From 6:15-7:30 PM on Wednesdays, MidWeek is a way for all generations to grow in their faith. Childcare will be available through our Kids Programming. Classes begin on Wednesday, January 14.

Pastor's Study - Dear Church: 5 Major Themes from Paul's Letters

As a conclusion to the Bible Recap, this class will explore the major theological themes found in Paul’s letters to the early church, helping learners see how his teachings shaped Christian faith and practice.

Married People

Marriage is about far more than rings, a cake and dancing the Cupid Shuffle. God designed marriage between a man and a woman to be a living picture of His covenant love—a love that is sacrificial, faithful, refining and deeply committed. In a world that often settles for shallow definitions of love, Christian marriage has the potential to shine as a radiant example of the Kingdom of God.

Screwtape Letters - The Reality of Evil in the World

This five-week course dives into The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis—one of the most insightful and imaginative works ever written about spiritual warfare. Through the fictional correspondence between Screwtape, a senior demon and his apprentice Wormwood, Lewis exposes the subtle strategies of temptation and the very real nature of evil in our world.

Holy Land Class: The Bible in Its Context

When you read Scripture, do you just skim past the locations because you have no frame of reference? Knowing the places and geography of the Holy Land brings the events of the Bible to life in a whole new way.

Financial Peace

Learn step by step how to budget, beat debt, save money and build wealth for the future. No complicated "blah blah blah" here. Financial Peace University teaches simple, commonsense principles that work. Build a Legacy. Plan For Your Future. Win With Money. Communicate in Marriage.
