November 1, 2024

In this week of our Exiles series, we'll discuss how to stand firm in our convictions when facing pressure to compromise. We'll dive into when King Nebuchadnezzar erects a golden statue and commands everyone to worship it. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refuse to bow down, remaining steadfast in their devotion to God despite being in exile. As a result, they are thrown into a fiery furnace but are miraculously saved by God. Their faith in exile becomes a powerful witness to God's protection and presence. This story teaches us about courage and trust in God during times of persecution.

Grace Marie Ward, Worship Arts Director, will be teaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Bill Bouknight, Retired GMC Guest Pastor, will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services.

For those worshiping remotely, you're invited to watch our services online, on Facebook and YouTube.

Operation Christmas Child

The 31st year of Operation Christmas Child has begun! By simply filling a shoebox with fun and meaningful items, you are creating the opportunity for children around the globe to hear the Good News and the Great Joy of Jesus. You can pick up a box and instructions on Sunday outside of the Auditorium and Sanctuary. You may return your boxes to the church November 3 or 10. You can also easily fill a box online or donate a flat cost. All the information for this year's collection and our very own link for online boxes can be found by visiting mthorebchurch.org/missions.

Small Group Launch

At Mt. Horeb, we believe that one of the best ways for us to stay in rhythm with God is by being in intentional, small group community with other Christians who are committed to living like Jesus. This January, we will be launching new small groups to help you find a place to grow and belong. If you are interested in joining one of these newly forming small groups, please fill out the information form linked below, and we will place you in a group, based on your preferences. In January 2025, we will hold a small group launch over the course of two weeks.

On week one, we will explore why we are called to be in community together. Groups will be invited to come to this first session at one of these times: Sunday, January 12 at 9 AM or 10:45 AM or Wednesday, January 15 at 6:15 PM.

On week two, we will explore how we are called to be in community together. Groups will be invited to come to this second session at one of these times: Sunday, January 19 at 9 AM or 10:45 AM or Wednesday, January 22 at 6:15 PM.

After those two weeks, groups will be launched to go and start meeting. If you are interested in inviting individuals or couples whom you are already connected with to join you, just indicate that in the form. Once you fill out your information, you will receive details about this exciting opportunity for growth! We will have 2 groups available for those in the downtown area. Registration will close on December 15. Register here.
