January 2, 2026

In the Global Methodist Church, we believe that, in baptism, God uses ordinary water to mark us in extraordinary ways. Baptism is the mark of God’s covenant with the Church, it marks the beginning of our faith journey and our initiation into the faith family. God is the primary actor and is always faithful to His covenant with us; therefore, baptism need never to be repeated. But, it can be reaffirmed. On January 4, at the beginning of a new year, we will all have the opportunity to recommit to Christ, come forward to touch the water and reaffirm our baptismal vows. We look forward to this powerful service together.

Trevor Miller, Faith Formation Pastor, will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Rachel Carosiello, Adult Discipleship Pastor, will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services.

For those worshiping remotely, you're invited to watch our services online, on Facebook and YouTube.

2026 Daily Devotional

On January 1, our church launched a 365-day devotional journey designed to help us grow together in our walk with Christ. This devotional invites our entire church family to engage with the same Scripture and spiritual truths each day, creating unity and shared purpose throughout the year. The devotional will be released quarterly, making it easy to follow along and stay engaged throughout the year.

How you can participate:

You can choose the option that works best for you

Throughout the year, this devotional will guide us through our five discipleship rhythms - living faithfullycommunallygenerouslyhumbly and missionally - helping establish Christ-centered habits for everyday life.

Vision Sunday

On January 11, join us for a special Sunday of worship as we start the new year together. Services will all be combined in the Auditorium for Contemporary and Traditional, with the usual 9:00 and 10:45 AM service times. God is on the move, and we are excited to be on mission with Him!

Baptism Class

Our Baptism Class for all ages will be held on Sunday, January 11 at 5 PM in Room 861. As Global Methodists, we believe that baptism is an outward sign of an inward work that God is doing in our lives and because God’s work is perfect, we believe in only being baptized once. If you or your child is someone who has never been baptized or if you’d like to learn more about baptism, please plan to attend. Once you attend, you can choose from one of our scheduled in-service baptism dates. Register at mthorebchurch.org/baptism or through our Mt. Horeb app

Immersion Baptisms

Our next immersion baptism will also be on Sunday, January 11. If you have taken the class, are ready to be baptized and have not signed up yet, please email baptism@mthorebchurch.org. If you have not taken the class but would like to be baptized, email baptism@mthorebchurch.org right away. Our next immersion baptisms are scheduled for May 2026.

2026 Spring MidWeek Classes

As disciples of Jesus, we believe that we are called to live faithfully in rhythm with God. While attending Sunday Morning worship is a great place to start, living in-step requires us to be walking with Jesus each and every day. From 6:15-7:30 PM on Wednesdays, MidWeek is a way for all generations to grow in their faith. Childcare will be available through our Kids Programming. Classes begin on Wednesday, January 14.

Pastor's Study - Dear Church: 5 Major Themes from Paul's Letters

As a conclusion to the Bible Recap, this class will explore the major theological themes found in Paul’s letters to the early church, helping learners see how his teachings shaped Christian faith and practice.

Married People

Marriage is about far more than rings, a cake and dancing the Cupid Shuffle. God designed marriage between a man and a woman to be a living picture of His covenant love—a love that is sacrificial, faithful, refining and deeply committed. In a world that often settles for shallow definitions of love, Christian marriage has the potential to shine as a radiant example of the Kingdom of God.

Screwtape Letters - The Reality of Evil in the World

This five-week course dives into The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis—one of the most insightful and imaginative works ever written about spiritual warfare. Through the fictional correspondence between Screwtape, a senior demon and his apprentice Wormwood, Lewis exposes the subtle strategies of temptation and the very real nature of evil in our world.

Holy Land Class: The Bible in Its Context

When you read Scripture, do you just skim past the locations because you have no frame of reference? Knowing the places and geography of the Holy Land brings the events of the Bible to life in a whole new way.

Learn step by step how to budget, beat debt, save money and build wealth for the future. No complicated "blah blah blah" here. Financial Peace University teaches simple, commonsense principles that work. Build a Legacy. Plan For Your Future. Win With Money. Communicate in Marriage.
