November 15, 2024

During Belshazzar's reign, Daniel remains in exile but is called upon to interpret a mysterious writing that appears on the wall during a royal feast. The writing predicts the fall of the Babylonian empire due to its pride and disobedience to God. Daniel's faithfulness in exile positions him as a voice of truth and judgment, even in a

corrupt foreign empire. The story of Belshazzar and the writing on the wall reminds us of God's judgment against sin and the importance of heeding His warnings. This week in our Exiles series, we'll discuss how to discern God's messages in our own lives and respond appropriately.

Trevor Miller, Family Pastor, will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Michael Turner, Executive Pastor, will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services.

For those worshiping remotely, you're invited to watch our services online, on Facebook and YouTube.

Operation Christmas Child

We are so thankful for the 850 boxes that have been turned in! Each of these boxes will affect the life of 3-4 children. We still have close to 275 boxes remaining, so please continue to bring boxes to the church administrative office next week.

Thanksgiving: From Family to Family

Would you like to adopt a local family this Thanksgiving?

18 Families are still available for you to sign up and help!

Your family can shop for Thanksgiving Day meal ingredients and deliver them to a local family who could use a blessing on Sunday, November 24. Come with your shopping list items (provided by Mt. Horeb) at 4:00 PM to the Mt. Horeb Auditorium. At that time, you will receive the name and address of a family that has already been contacted and is eager to receive your basket. Most families will be available to receive their basket on Sunday immediately following the packing party. Other families may need for you to call and schedule an alternative delivery time. You will provide the ingredients for all the side dishes. Mt. Horeb will provide the meat, collard greens, tote bags to pack everything, and the name and address of the family that you will deliver to. Register here.

For questions or more information, contact Jessica Coates at jessica@mthorebchurch.org.

If you offer your food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted, then your light shall rise in the darkness and your gloom be like the noonday.

Small Group Launch

At Mt. Horeb, we believe that one of the best ways for us to stay in rhythm with God is by being in intentional, small group community with other Christians who are committed to living like Jesus. This January, we will be launching new small groups to help you find a place to grow and belong. If you are interested in joining one of these newly forming small groups, please fill out the registration form linked below, and we will place you in a group, based on your preferences. In January 2025, we will hold a small group launch over the course of two weeks.

On week one, we will explore why we are called to be in community together. Groups will be invited to come to this first session at one of these times: Sunday, January 12 at 9:00 AM or 10:45 AM or Wednesday, January 15 at 6:15 PM.

On week two, we will explore how we are called to be in community together. Groups will be invited to come to this second session at one of these times: Sunday, January 19 at 9:00 AM or 10:45 AM or Wednesday, January 22 at 6:15 PM.

After those two weeks, groups will be launched to go and start meeting. If you are interested in inviting individuals or couples whom you are already connected with to join you, just indicate that in the form. Once you fill out your information, you will receive details about this exciting opportunity for growth! We will have 2 groups available for those in the downtown area. Registration will close on December 15. Register here.
