October 2, 2026
Jesus was a master storyteller. He used ordinary things like seeds, money, servants and neighbors to show us the heart of the Kingdom of God. In our new series, Storyteller, we'll step into some of His most memorable parables and discover what they say about faith, forgiveness, generosity and compassion. Sometimes the story Jesus tells is meant to challenge the story we've been telling ourselves.
This week, we ask a simple question: What has God entrusted to you? Two servants put what they were given to work, and one buries his out of fear. The difference isn't how much each one received, it's what they did with it. Join us as we consider the gifts, opportunities, resources and relationships God has placed in our hands.
Trevor Miller, Faith Formation Pastor, will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Grace Marie Shaw, Worship Arts Pastor, will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services.
For those worshiping remotely, you're invited to watch our services online, on Facebook and YouTube.

Sisterhood Reset
Are you feeling out of sync, spiritually weary or simply in need of a break from life's constant demands? Join us for a refreshing day of worship, fellowship and renewal at our Women's Reset Retreat on Saturday, October 17, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the Student Room. Designed for women of all ages, this interactive one-day retreat is a chance to reconnect with God, build meaningful relationships and be encouraged in your faith journey.
The day includes heartfelt worship, fellowship and an inspiring message from our mission partner, Lighthouse for Life, a faith-based organization working on the frontlines against human trafficking in South Carolina. They'll share insights about their ministry, stories of hope and ways we can make a difference together. You'll also take part in meaningful discussions on practical, life-changing truths, plus activities that connect women across generations. During our time together, you'll have the chance to support the women served by Lighthouse for Life by purchasing Uber rides for them. A light breakfast and lunch are included.

Protecting Our Church Family from Scams
Sadly, scammers sometimes pose as pastors and staff to reach out to church families by email or text. We want you to feel confident about what is really from us. Any email from a Mt. Horeb staff member will come from name@mthorebchurch.org. Our staff will never ask you to buy gift cards or make a purchase of any kind. If a message asks for that, it is not from us.
Whether you are giving, registering for an event or paying for something at church, you can do it through Pushpay. If a message asks you to send money in any other way, such as gift cards, a wire transfer or a payment app, please don't respond.
A few simple habits can help keep you safe:
- Look at the full email address or phone number, not just the name that shows up.
- Be cautious of messages that create urgency or ask you to keep something secret.
- Don't click links or open attachments you weren't expecting.
- Never share passwords, verification codes or banking details by email or text.
- When in doubt, contact the person directly using a phone number or email you already know is theirs.
If you receive a suspicious message that appears to come from our church, please let our office know. We are grateful for you and want to help keep our community safe.
