May 22, 2026

Many believers try to live the Christian life in their own strength—and end up exhausted and defeated. But Jesus never intended for us to rely on ourselves.

Before launching the early church, He told His followers to wait for power from the

Holy Spirit. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead now lives in us, empowering us to overcome sin, walk in boldness, and live with purpose. This week is about moving from self-reliance to Spirit-dependence.

Michael Turner, Senior Pastor, will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Bill Bouknight, Retired GMC Guest Pastor, will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services.

For those worshiping remotely, you're invited to watch our services online, on Facebook and YouTube.

Young Adults

Mt. Horeb’s Young Adult Ministry is a place for singles, ages 18 through 30, to build meaningful relationships, grow in their faith and get connected to the life of the church. We are passionate about creating a welcoming community where young adults can be encouraged, challenged and equipped to follow Jesus together.

Whether you are just out of high school, in college, starting a career or navigating young adulthood, there is a place for you here. From Bible studies and gatherings to service opportunities and summer events, there are plenty of ways to get involved and build community.

To learn more or get connected, contact us at youngadults@mthorebchurch.org. You can also visit the Young Adults page on our website to see everything planned for this summer.

Food Drive

Each summer, while our regular Backpack Ministry is on break, we come together to help families in our local school district who are facing food insecurity by providing a month’s worth of shelf-stable food through our annual Food Drive. Through the Backpack Ministry, we serve families across thirteen Lexington One schools, and every donation helps make a meaningful impact.

This week and next, we’ll be collecting food items to help stock these families with needed supplies for the summer months. Whether you’re able to donate one item or several, your generosity helps care for families in our community.

Donations will be collected on Sundays, May 24 and May 31 at the Missions Center, located outside the Auditorium in the West Building. Items may also be dropped off weekdays through Friday, May 29 at the Missions Office, located in the house behind the back parking lot.

Kids Worship Camp

We’re inviting rising 2nd through 5th graders to join us July 20-23 from 9 AM to 12 PM for an unforgettable experience exploring the creative arts through worship and music. Each day will be filled with group singing, hands-on workshops and engaging music instruction that brings worship to life. On Thursday at noon, parents and loved ones are invited to a special showcase. Registration is just $30 per student, and space is limited, so don’t wait! You can register at mthorebchurch.org/events.

Worship Workshops

The Contemporary Worship Team is hosting Worship Workshops for rising 6th-12th grade students interested in learning more about worship music, live production and pastoral ministry. This is a great opportunity to learn more about one of these areas and a great way to develop and refine skills. If you are a beginner, this is also an opportunity to be exposed to how these ministries work together to serve in a worship service setting. Workshops will take place July 28–30 from 9:00 AM–12:30 PM. The cost is $30 per student, and the registration deadline is July 12. Register at mthorebchurch.org/events.
