May 23, 2025

The phrase, “Everything Happens for a Reason” suggests that everything is

part of God’s perfect plan, but the Bible doesn’t say that everything is good— only that God works things for good. Some things happen because of sin or human choices, but God can redeem even the worst circumstances. There is a difference between God’s permissive and intended will.

Rachel Carosiello, Adult Discipleship Pastor, will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Michael Turner, Senior Pastor, will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services.

For those worshiping remotely, you're invited to watch our services online, on Facebook and YouTube.

Food Drive

Each summer, while we break from our normal Backpack Ministry, we make it a point to provide the families from our local school district struggling with food insecurity with a month’s worth of shelf-stable foods through an annual food drive. We’ll be collecting the food on Sunday morning, May 25. For more information on what foods to bring, visit mthorebchurch.org/missions.

Columbia Worship Gathering

We are looking forward to seeing you at our next Columbia Worship Gathering on May 25. Our mission is to make, mature and mobilize disciples who magnify Jesus, and we are excited for you to join us on this journey. We will continue hosting Columbia Worship Gatherings on Sunday evenings downtown over the next couple months. Find out more about the location and dates by visiting mthorebchurch.org/columbia. Make plans to join us at 6 PM at 701 Whaley in Columbia.

Music Bingo

Get ready for a laid-back night of music, fun, and a little friendly competition on June 20 at 6 PM! Instead of numbers, we’ll be marking off songs on our bingo cards while jamming to awesome hits from all kinds of genres and decades. Sing along to some classics, enjoy tasty snacks and win cool prizes. Whether you know every song lyric or just want to hang out and have a good time, this is the perfect way to spend your evening! Open to individuals & families in the church. Kids 6th grade & up can join in with their families. Need childcare, make sure you register here. We can’t wait to see you in the Student Room!

VBS 2025

We already have over 1,500 kids registered for VBS and we are needing some amazing adults to serve alongside them to help them experience the best week of summer! Currently we do not have enough adults to place with the children we have registered. Would you prayerfully consider serving as a crew guide that will lead them through the different stations that they will take part in throughout their time with us? Crew guides are needed for the morning and afternoon sessions. Visit mthorebchurch.org/vbs to serve.

Summer Midweek

We know summertime is filled with vacations, but we also want to be able to keep you connected here at the church, too. Our Wednesday night classes begin on July 2 and end on July 23. Choose one and register here!

God in the Movies – Led by Trevor Miller – Is a unique class that explores spiritual themes in popular films. Each session, we’ll watch clips from well-known movies and discuss how they reflect biblical truths about faith, redemption, sacrifice, and hope. By engaging with stories on the big screen, we’ll uncover how God’s truth is woven into culture and how we can use movies as a tool for deeper spiritual reflection and meaningful conversations about faith.

Wednesday || 6:15pm – 7:30pm || Student Room

Painting the 23rd Psalm – Led by Sheila Redford – This special class will give you the opportunity to turn painting and the creative arts into a devotional practice. Taught by a long-time artist, you will learn the basics of painting such as values, color theory, and design as well as how our ability to create is born, ultimately, out of our Creator. In a world that is very dark and unstable, through painting and praying, we’ll encounter God in a new way. No previous art experience is necessary. Please note that this class requires a $20 payment directly to the teacher, in order for her to provide you with all the basic supplies you need. Information about how to make that payment will be available once you register.

Wednesday || 6:15pm – 7:30pm || Fellowship Hall

Bible Recap – Led by Our Pastors– Join us as we dive into The Bible Recap by Tara-Leigh Cobble. At our church, we believe truth is essential, so we’re studying the Bible together to deepen our understanding and see its big picture. This study is perfect for anyone eager to grow in faith and biblical knowledge.

Wednesday || 6:15pm – 7:30pm || Sanctuary
