May 30, 2025

People often misquote 1 Timothy 6:10, leaving out a key part: “the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” Money itself isn’t the problem— it’s our attachment to it. When we prioritize wealth over God, it leads to destruction, but when we steward money wisely, it can be used for His glory. Join us this Sunday as we delve into the half truth, "Money Is the Root of All Evil”.

Trevor Miller, Faith Formation Pastor, will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Stephen Fitch, Evangelism & Assimilation Pastor, will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services.

For those worshiping remotely, you're invited to watch our services online, on Facebook and YouTube.

Membership Class

Whether you are seeking information about the church or ready to join, you are invited to attend our Membership Class on June 1 from 3 PM to 5 PM in the Fellowship Hall. Those who wish to join the church will have that opportunity at the end of the class, and those not ready yet can return to a future class for additional information and/or join. You can register at mthorebchurch.org/membership or through our Mt. Horeb app.

Baptism Class

Our Baptism Class for all ages will be held on June 1 at 5 PM in the Fellowship Hall. As Global Methodists, we believe that baptism is an outward sign of an inward work that God is doing in our lives and because God’s work is perfect, we believe in only being baptized once. If you or your child is someone who has never been baptized or if you’d like to learn more about baptism, please plan to attend. Once you attend, you can choose from one of our scheduled in-service baptism dates. Register at mthorebchurch.org/baptism.

Young Adults Beach Day

We invite Mt. Horeb Young Adults between the ages of 18 – 25, to join us for our upcoming Beach Day on Saturday, June 7. We will travel to Isle of Palms for the day for beach fun, food and a great time together. For specific details, please contact us at youngadults@mthorebchurch.org.

Summer Midweek

We know summertime is filled with vacations, but we also want to be able to keep you connected here at the church, too. Our Wednesday night classes begin on July 2 and end on July 23. Choose one and register here!

God in the Movies – Led by Trevor Miller – Is a unique class that explores spiritual themes in popular films. Each session, we’ll watch clips from well-known movies and discuss how they reflect biblical truths about faith, redemption, sacrifice, and hope. By engaging with stories on the big screen, we’ll uncover how God’s truth is woven into culture and how we can use movies as a tool for deeper spiritual reflection and meaningful conversations about faith.

Wednesday || 6:15pm – 7:30pm || Student Room

Painting the 23rd Psalm – Led by Sheila Redford – This special class will give you the opportunity to turn painting and the creative arts into a devotional practice. Taught by a long-time artist, you will learn the basics of painting such as values, color theory, and design as well as how our ability to create is born, ultimately, out of our Creator. In a world that is very dark and unstable, through painting and praying, we’ll encounter God in a new way. No previous art experience is necessary. Please note that this class requires a $20 payment directly to the teacher, in order for her to provide you with all the basic supplies you need. Information about how to make that payment will be available once you register.

Wednesday || 6:15pm – 7:30pm || Fellowship Hall

Bible Recap – Led by our Pastors– Join us as we dive into The Bible Recap by Tara-Leigh Cobble. At our church, we believe truth is essential, so we’re studying the Bible together to deepen our understanding and see its big picture. This study is perfect for anyone eager to grow in faith and biblical knowledge.

Wednesday || 6:15pm – 7:30pm || Sanctuary
