November 30, 2025

Christmas is a season overflowing with joy, not due to lights or gifts, but because of the good news of the birth of Jesus. This four-week series explores the joy of anticipation, exaltation, invitation, and revelation, highlighting that true joy is found in Jesus. Long before that first Christmas night, God instilled hope in His people through the prophets, who foretold a coming King from Bethlehem—a ruler called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. The joy of anticipation comes from trusting God’s promises, just as Israel waited in faith for the Messiah. We too joyfully await what God will do in our lives today and for Christ's return to make all things new. God’s promises are worth the wait.

Trevor Miller, Faith Formation Pastor, will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Rachel Carosiello, Adult Discipleship Pastor, will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services.

For those worshiping remotely, you're invited to watch our services online, on Facebook and YouTube.

Christmas Musical

Many have made Mt. Horeb’s Christmas musical an annual tradition. We invite you to join us at one of our four performances in the Auditorium.

Saturday, December 6 | 5:00 and 7:00 PM

Sunday, December 7 | 9:00 and 10:45 AM

There will not be services in the Sanctuary as our worship teams are coming together to create a special experience to celebrate the Christmas season. You don’t want to miss this spectacular celebration. Mark your calendars now! The nursery will be provided for children three years and under during the 5:00 PM, 9:00 AM and 10:45 AM services.

Christmas: From Family to Family

It is time for our annual Christmas: From Family to Family gift collection. Don't delay, this Sunday is the last week to pick up your gift tags. Visit the tables as you exit the worship services this Sunday to select a "gift tag" you plan to purchase. Each tag includes the gift type needed (age, gender, and gift value). These tags are available in-person only. All the information you need, including when to return the gifts, will be available at the tables on Sunday and at mthorebchurch.org/missions.

We can only accept new, unused items. Please include the tag when you bring it back to us. We can't wait to serve with you this Christmas as we spread the hope and joy of the Gospel from family to family!

Advent Offering

Every year we collect a special offering during the season of Advent to bless both a global and local partner. This year our advent offering will bless two churches.

Globally, we will be helping to rebuild a church in India, led by our friend and former pastoral intern, Prasanth Bethu and his family. In the city where he lives, less than 5% of the population is Christian. By God's grace, their church has grown to over 1500 people in worship. On May 31, their church was burned to the ground. We do not know who was behind it, but we feel confident that God has called us to help rebuild it. For 21 days, the whole church fasted and prayed asking God for His direction.

Locally, we will bless a Global Methodist Church in the Columbia area that is showing signs of growth and promise. By coming alongside this church, we can multiply their mission and dramatically impact the vision and reach of this smaller church, expanding their capacity to reach people in the Columbia area. Acts 1:8 says, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Please join us as we make an impact in Columbia, India and even to the ends of the earth. We will begin collecting the Advent Offering on November 30.

Christmas at Mt. Horeb

We hope you will join us this Advent season, which begins on November 30, for all of our events and services either in-person or online. It is truly the most wonderful time of the year and we are excited to see what God will do. Visit christmasatmthoreb.org to see all the wonderful things we have planned.

Heritage Builders

After the incredible response to Pastor Michael’s message about living missionally and the eye-opening statistics he shared regarding the needs of vulnerable teens in foster care, many hearts were stirred to take action. In response, we are hosting a Heritage Builders Information Meeting for anyone interested in learning how to make a lasting difference in the lives of youth who are aging out of the foster care system.

Heritage Builders focuses on building relationships, offering hope, and surrounding these youth with the love and stability of Christ. We provide mentoring, prayer, and community support. Join us to hear the heart behind Heritage Builders, learn about our work, and discover how you can help change the story for vulnerable, family-less teens (ages 14-21) who are stepping into adulthood. Whether you’re ready to serve or just want to learn more, this meeting is designed for you!

We invite you to join us on Sunday, December 14 at 9:00 AM, 10:45 AM or 12:15 PM for this informational meeting. Each session will last no longer than one hour and will be held in Room 551, upstairs in the East building. We hope to see you there! If you can’t attend the meetings but are interested, please email Jo Walker for more information or next steps.

Small Group Launch

At Mt. Horeb, we believe that one of the best ways for us to stay in rhythm with God is by being in intentional, small group community with other Christians who are committed to living like Jesus. This January, we will be launching new small groups to help you find a place to grow and belong. If you are interested in joining one of these newly forming small groups, please fill out the registration form linked below, and we will place you in a group, based on your preferences. In January 2026, we will hold a small group launch over the course of two weeks.

On week one, Sunday, January 11 at 9:00 AM, we will explore why we are called to be in community together.

On week two, Sunday, January 18 at 9:00 AM, we will explore how we are called to be in community together.

We will offer Wednesday session times if demand dictates.

After those two weeks, groups will be launched to go and start meeting. If you are interested in inviting individuals or couples whom you are already connected with to join you, just indicate that in the form. Once you fill out your information, you will receive details about this exciting opportunity for growth! Registration will close on December 19. Register here
