June 27, 2025

Pride elevates self and edges God out. It's the sin that led to the fall in Eden, and it's still the root of many of our struggles today. Through humility, we find freedom, connection and purpose. It's not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less. Join us for week 2 of our series, InSINdious.

Michael Turner, Senior Pastor, will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Trevor Miller, Faith Formation Pastor, will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services.

For those worshiping remotely, you're invited to watch our services online, on Facebook and YouTube.

Summer Midweek

We know summertime is filled with vacations, but we also want to be able to keep you connected here at the church, too. Our Wednesday night classes begin on July 2 and end on July 23. Choose one and register here!

God in the Movies – Led by Trevor Miller – Is a unique class that explores spiritual themes in popular films. Each session, we’ll watch clips from well-known movies and discuss how they reflect biblical truths about faith, redemption, sacrifice, and hope. By engaging with stories on the big screen, we’ll uncover how God’s truth is woven into culture and how we can use movies as a tool for deeper spiritual reflection and meaningful conversations about faith.

Wednesday || 6:15 PM – 7:30 PM || Student Room

Painting the 23rd Psalm – Led by Sheila Redford – This special class will give you the opportunity to turn painting and the creative arts into a devotional practice. Taught by a long-time artist, you will learn the basics of painting such as values, color theory, and design as well as how our ability to create is born, ultimately, out of our Creator. In a world that is very dark and unstable, through painting and praying, we’ll encounter God in a new way. No previous art experience is necessary. Please note that this class requires a $20 payment directly to the teacher, in order for her to provide you with all the basic supplies you need. Information about how to make that payment will be available once you register.

Wednesday || 6:15 PM – 7:30 PM || Fellowship Hall

Bible Recap – Led by our Pastors– Join us as we dive into The Bible Recap by Tara-Leigh Cobble. At our church, we believe truth is essential, so we’re studying the Bible together to deepen our understanding and see its big picture. This study is perfect for anyone eager to grow in faith and biblical knowledge.

Wednesday || 6:15 PM – 7:30 PM || Sanctuary

Kids Worship Camp

Get ready for four action-packed mornings of worship and creativity! We’re inviting rising 2nd through 5th graders to join us July 21-24 from 9 AM - 12 PM for an unforgettable experience exploring the creative arts through worship and music. Each day will be filled with group singing, hands-on workshops and engaging music instruction that brings worship to life.

On Thursday, July 24, at noon, parents and loved ones are invited to a special showcase. You’ll get to see some of the songs the kids have been learning, along with fun demonstrations of what they’ve discovered during the week.

Camp participants are also encouraged to attend Sunday morning worship in the Sanctuary on July 27, where they will sing during both Traditional Worship services at 9:00 AM and 10:45 AM. Participants should arrive by 8:00 AM and will be finished by 11:30 AM. Those who participate in both services will receive a surprise!

Space is limited, so don’t wait! Register here. We can’t wait to welcome your child for a week of fun, faith and music!

Worship Workshops

The Contemporary Worship Team is hosting Worship Workshops for rising 6th-12th grade students interested in learning more about worship music, live production, and Pastoral ministry. This is a great opportunity to learn more about one of these areas and a great way to develop and define skills. If you are a beginner, this is also an opportunity to be exposed to how these ministries work together to serve in a worship service setting. Worship Workshops will be July 29-31 from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The deadline to register is July 21. Register here.

Small Group Launch

At Mt. Horeb, we believe that one of the best ways for us to stay in rhythm with God is by being in intentional, small group community with other Christians who are committed to living like Jesus. This August, we will be launching new small groups to help you find a place to grow and belong. If you are interested in joining one of these newly forming small groups, please fill out the information form here, and we will place you in a group, based on your preferences. In August 2025, we will hold a small group launch over the course of two weeks.

During week one, we will explore why we are called to be in community together. Groups will be invited to come to this first session on Sunday, August 10 at 9 AM.

During week two, we will explore how we are called to be in community together. Groups will be invited to come to this second session on Sunday, August 17 at 9 AM.

After those two weeks, groups will be launched to go and start meeting. If you are interested in inviting individuals or couples whom you are already connected with to join you, just indicate that in the form. Once you fill out your information, you will receive details about this exciting opportunity for growth! Registration will close on August 3. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me at rachel.carosiello@mthorebchurch.org.

Truly, we are better at finding the rhythm of our life with God when we do it together. We hope you’ll join us!

Golf Tournament

Join us for an exciting Golf Tournament at Golden Hills Golf Club on Monday, August 18, to support the Mt. Horeb Church Backpack Ministry! Every swing you take will help provide food for under-resourced children in Lexington School District 1. In 2024 alone, we distributed 433 backpacks filled with food each week to children in need throughout our community.

This will be a four-person, captain’s choice format. Registration opens at 9:00 AM with a 10:00 AM shotgun start. Registration fee includes: green fee, cart fee, lunch, tournament celebration and prizes!

Don’t miss your chance to make a meaningful impact – register and help us drive change! Register here!
