December 12, 2025
The genealogy of Jesus might seem like an unlikely place to find joy, but it
reveals something powerful: everyone is invited into God’s story. The list includes kings and commoners, saints and sinners, all woven into the lineage that led to Christ. Through Jesus, God extends an open invitation: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” The joy of invitation is that no one is too far gone, too broken or too ordinary to be included in God’s plan. At Christmas, God’s invitation still stands… come and find life, forgiveness and belonging in Jesus.
Grace Marie Ward, Worship Arts Pastor, will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Trevor Miller, Faith Formation Pastor, will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services.
For those worshiping remotely, you're invited to watch our services online, on Facebook and YouTube.

Advent Offering
Every year we collect a special offering during the season of Advent to bless both a global and local partner. This year our advent offering will bless two churches.
Globally, we will be helping to rebuild a church in India, led by our friend and former pastoral intern, Prasanth Bethu and his family. In the city where he lives, less than 5% of the population is Christian. By God's grace, their church has grown to over 1500 people in worship. On May 31, their church was burned to the ground. We do not know who was behind it, but we feel confident that God has called us to help rebuild it. For 21 days, the whole church fasted and prayed asking God for His direction.
Locally, we will bless a Global Methodist Church in the Columbia area, Rehoboth GMC, that is showing signs of growth and promise. By coming alongside this church, we can multiply their mission and dramatically impact the vision and reach of this smaller church, expanding their capacity to reach people in the Columbia area. Acts 1:8 says, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Please join us as we make an impact in Columbia, India and even to the ends of the earth. You can give at mthorebchurch.org/give by selecting “Advent Offering" in the Fund dropdown menu. You may also make your contribution on Sunday morning by placing a check in the Kiosk.

Boway & Ganta, Liberia // February 15-28
Our trip to Liberia is a little different this year. This trip will serve two purposes: to witness Mt. Horeb’s partnership with the Boway community and to attend the Grain Coast Annual Conference of the GMC.
Mt. Horeb Church has partnered with the GMC Grain Coast Conference Pastor, Dr. Jerry Kulah and the Boway Housing Project for five years. Boway is a small, impoverished rural village with a population of approximately 1200. Through our partnership, we have helped build 25 homes with bathrooms and toilets, install solar lights throughout the village, construct two bridges, educate elementary, undergraduate and graduate students through scholarship, construct living quarters for the local school teachers and build a town hall.
The Grain Coast Annual Conference of the Global Methodist Church will have its' first annual conference in the city of Ganta, Liberia. We will be staying for the first couple days of the conference to meet, encourage, teach, worship and learn alongside our Liberian leaders and pastors.
More information about this trip may be found on the Missions page.

Small Group Launch
At Mt. Horeb, we believe that one of the best ways for us to stay in rhythm with God is by being in intentional, small group community with other Christians who are committed to living like Jesus. This January, we will be launching new small groups to help you find a place to grow and belong. If you are interested in joining one of these newly forming small groups, please fill out the registration form linked below, and we will place you in a group, based on your preferences. In January 2026, we will hold a small group launch over the course of two weeks.
On week one, Sunday, January 11 at 9:00 AM, we will explore why we are called to be in community together.
On week two, Sunday, January 18 at 9:00 AM, we will explore how we are called to be in community together.
We will offer Wednesday session times if needed.
After those two weeks, groups will be launched to go and start meeting. If you are interested in inviting individuals or couples whom you are already connected with to join you, just indicate that on the form. Once you fill out your information, you will receive details about this exciting opportunity for growth! Registration will close on December 19. Register here.

2026 Spring MidWeek Classes
As disciples of Jesus, we believe that we are called to live faithfully in rhythm with God. While attending Sunday Morning worship is a great place to start, living in-step requires us to be walking with Jesus each and every day. From 6:15-7:30 PM on Wednesdays, MidWeek is a way for all generations to grow in their faith. Childcare will be available through our Kids Programming. Classes begin on Wednesday, January 14.
Pastor's Study - Dear Church: 5 Major Themes from Paul's Letters
As a conclusion to the Bible Recap, this class will explore the major theological themes found in Paul’s letters to the early church, helping learners see how his teachings shaped Christian faith and practice.
Married People
Marriage is about far more than rings, a cake and dancing the Cupid Shuffle. God designed marriage between a man and a woman to be a living picture of His covenant love—a love that is sacrificial, faithful, refining and deeply committed. In a world that often settles for shallow definitions of love, Christian marriage has the potential to shine as a radiant example of the Kingdom of God.
Screwtape Letters - The Reality of Evil in the World
This five-week course dives into The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis—one of the most insightful and imaginative works ever written about spiritual warfare. Through the fictional correspondence between Screwtape, a senior demon and his apprentice Wormwood, Lewis exposes the subtle strategies of temptation and the very real nature of evil in our world.
Holy Land Class: The Bible in Its Context
When you read Scripture, do you just skim past the locations because you have no frame of reference? Knowing the places and geography of the Holy Land brings the events of the Bible to life in a whole new way.
Financial Peace
Learn step by step how to budget, beat debt, save money and build wealth for the future. No complicated "blah blah blah" here. Financial Peace University teaches simple, commonsense principles that work. Build a Legacy. Plan For Your Future. Win With Money. Communicate in Marriage.
Click here to register and find out more about each class.
