Dear Students and Families,
The 2026–2027 school year is almost here, and on behalf of the Mt. Lebanon High School administration, faculty, and staff, I am excited to welcome you back for another year of learning, growth, and opportunity.
Throughout the summer, our team has been preparing for the year ahead with great care and enthusiasm. While we remain committed to the traditions and high expectations that define Mt. Lebanon High School, we are equally excited to build upon them with new opportunities that challenge, inspire, and support every student.
Whether in the classroom, on the stage, on the athletic field, through clubs and activities, or in service to others, we are committed to helping every student grow academically, socially, and personally. Our goal is to provide an environment where students feel connected, challenged, and empowered to reach their full potential.
We look forward to welcoming our students back into our classrooms and hallways and partnering with our families to make the 2026–2027 school year a meaningful, successful, and memorable one.
Sincerely,
Joel G. Thompson, Ed.D.
Principal

| | Student Schedule Changes (if applicable) | | |
Beginning on or after July 27, please examine your child’s class schedule to determine its accuracy relative to the courses requested.
Schedule changes may only occur for the following reasons: (1) to remove courses on the schedule that were not requested and/or (2) to add previously requested courses that do not appear on the schedule. Requests for particular teachers cannot be honored.
To address the reasons listed above, students may meet with their counselor on a first-come, first-serve basis during the times listed below. Please adhere to the following dates and times. (Please note that teacher names and classroom locations for study halls will appear on the student’s schedule in Dashboard before the first day of school.)
- Monday, August 3- 12th grade only
- Tuesday, August 4- 11th grade only
- Wednesday, August 5- 10th grade only
- Thursday, August 6- 9th grade only
Please note that counselors will not return from summer break until August 3.
Please remember that schedules received on July 27 are tentative. Class periods, teachers, and room locations may change as the master schedule is finalized. If you have any questions regarding your schedule, please contact the school counseling office at 412-344-2003, option 5, beginning on August 3.

As we get ready for a great year, we know families have plenty of questions about what the school day looks like, from arrival and dismissal times to lunch and everything in between. To help you and your child feel prepared, we've gathered it all in one place.
Attendance: Starting this school year, the Mt. Lebanon School District will use a single attendance process for all students, kindergarten through grade 12. All attendance will be managed in the PowerSchool Portal accessed through LeboID.
Visit our School Day page for start and end times, drop-off and pick-up details, and other helpful information for a smooth start to the year.
| | Getting Ready For The First Day | | |
There are a few key resources we'd love for every family to review before the first day. Please take a few minutes to look through the items below.
-
High School Handbook - Your go-to guide for daily routines, policies, and school procedures.
-
Health Services — Important information on medications, forms, and how to reach your school nurse. If your child has any health needs or requires medication at school, please review this early so we can be ready to support them.
-
Lunch Menu & Account Info — View menus and set up or add to your child's PaySchools Central account.
-
Devices & Technology Policies — A reminder about your child's district-issued device and the acceptable use guidelines that go with it.
| | |
Schoology & PowerSchool Portal (Dashboard)
- Schoology (our Learning Management System) and PowerSchool Portal (your parent/guardian portal to the PowerSchool Dashboard) are two of the main tools you'll use to stay connected to your child's learning throughout the year.
- Please take a moment to confirm your contact information and your child(ren)'s medical information, and be sure to list yourself as the first Emergency Contact. If any of your information changes during the year, just let the office know so we can keep our records current.
You can find everything you need to get started with both tools, including how-to guides and Schoology support, on our Families page.
Weekly Newsletters
- During the school year, the District newsletter will arrive in your inbox every Sunday at 2:00 p.m., complete with links to each school's newsletter. The first edition will be delivered on Sunday, August 16.
