Mt. Lookout's Community Council ENewsletter
Hello Mt. Lookout! Below are a few updates about what's happening in our community this month. If you have any questions or comments, please send them to the Mt. Lookout Community Council (MLCC) Board at info@mtlookout.org.

The City's Property Tax Working Group
Requests Your
Input
Vice Mayor Smitherman has established a Property Tax Working Group (PTWG) to study the steady increase of property taxes and to review our City's tax abatement program. Since February, the group has held regular monthly meetings and meeting notes are posted on the PTWG's website.
As part of its efforts, this working group has created a survey to get community input about residents' experiences related to their property and neighborhood. Please take a few minutes to fill out this short survey. Your responses will be anonymous. Survey results will be compiled and posted on the PTWG's website and distributed electronically to working group members to consider as they develop their recommendations.
All Property Tax Working Group meetings are open to the public. The next meeting will be Thursday, August 15th from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at Two Centennial (2nd Floor), 805 Central Ave. For past meeting notes, survey responses, and more information, visit the PTWG website

MLCC Square Landscape & Maintenance

The MLCC's Square Landscape and Maintenance Committee has been hard at work to make our Square a more inviting place for Mt. Lookout residents. This summer, the committee has accomplished the following:
  • Acquired an Ohio state flag to be flown on the flag-pole with the US flag - residents should see it there shortly. State Representative Tom Brinkmann secured this for Mt. Lookout.

  • Worked with the city of Cincinnati and Rumpke to make certain that trash cans in the square are emptied promptly and regularly.

  • Spoken to the US postal station to remove graffiti on postal boxes - this should be removed in the next several weeks.

  • Monitored the work done by the current landscaping contractors to make certain the plantings and shrubs are maintained.

  • Replanting of some shrubbery along the Mt. Lookout steps and maintenance of those plantings.
  • Removal of former parking poles in center island (what was left after new parking procedures implemented).
The committee has also identified several additional short and long term projects that it is currently exploring. Click here to learn more.

We thank all members of the community who do their part to help keep the Square a place that all can enjoy.  If anyone has something that they would like to see addressed or has any ideas about how to improve the square, please let the MLCC Board know.

T hank you to all who attended the special meeting held on July 16 to discuss plans for proposed development in Mt. Lookout Square. We had a great turn out!

Lookout Community Council and broader community to share plans to redevelop four rental properties at 1009, 1011, 1013, and 1015 Delta Avenue into 30 - 35 luxury apartments. Paul Schirmer (R2) and Barry Rosenberg (Co-owner of Towne Properties) were at the meeting to discuss the proposed project in m ore detail.
