Muay Thai Seminar

This Saturday!

Kickboxing students, BJJ students, Kids BJJ students, and non-members are welcome to come

Over the last several years, mostly due to the ever-increasing popularity of Mixed Martial Arts, Muay Thai has risen among its peers to become the superlative striking style in combat sports.

The arts effectiveness and popularity is no doubt a reflection of its ability to cover the entire gamete of stand-up situations, from long range kicking to fighting in the clinch. This last range of combat, however, is often overlooked and underutilized here in the United States due to rule changes, safety regulations, and differences in scoring bouts. This is unfortunate as the clinch range, otherwise known as standing grapple range, is an area rich in sophistication and combative efficacy.

Whether you are interested in Muay Thai, Mixed Martial Arts, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, or advanced self-defense, the ability to fight in clinching range will exponentially increase your combative readiness.

Come join our team at Marin MMA for a seminar focusing on Muay Thai elbows, knees and clinching!

The focus of the seminar will be on integrating the hands, elbows, and knees into functional offensive tools as well as establishing a positional-clinch-matrix what will allow a martial artist of any background to effectively fight in the standing grapple range.

Where does the money go?

This money that we make from this seminar will fund our trip to a martial arts supershow in Las Vegas. This supershow has lectures and demonstrations for 3 days straight. We each will be attending at least 4 lectures a day.

By attending the supershow, MarinMMA will bring back information to better our programs, classes, customer service, parties, techniques, and customer service.  We promise you will benefit from the seminar's moves.  The information that we will bring back from the supershow will also greatly benefit all of our members.

About the Instructor...

Antone Haley

Antone started his martial arts career in the 3rd grade. He began training Wing Chung Kung Fu under Ralph Pinkerton and Grandmaster Chris Chan of the US Wing Chun Academy when he entered high school.

In 2002 and 2003 Antone competed in the International Kung Fu Championships and brought home a total of four gold medals and one bronze. In 2004 and 2005 Antone accompanied the US Wing Chun Academy to China for advanced training and in 2006 he was invited to be a guest instructor at an international training camp held in Germany.

In 2005 Antone continued his study of traditional Chinese Martial Arts by taking on the systems of Bagua and Xing Yi under instructor Hal Mosher. During this time he also trained in Taipei, Taiwan, under Master Chen Pan Ling.

When Antone moved out of Marin County to attend the University of California, Davis, he began studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Dave Terry and Muay Thai under Kru 'Ty' Elliot from whom he learned all of his kickboxing technique and tactics. During this time Antone also trained under Kru Yong Saiyarath in Sacramento, California.

Before leaving UC Davis Antone was exposed to the systems of Jeet Kune Do, Kali, and Krav Maga. He also trained at the Fairtex Muay Thai camp in Bangplee, Thailand. In 2009 Antone was certified as a Muay Thai instructor under Ty Elliot of Elite Instinct MMA (Davis, CA) and Superior Fighting Academy (Sacramento, CA). In 2010 Antone was also awarded another Muay Thai instructorship by Yong Saiyarath of Sacramento Muay Thai. In 2010 Antone was promoted to 'Full Instructor' under Paul Vunak of Progressive Fighting Systems. He is also certified as an 'Edged Weapons Instructor' and a 'LEO Force Continuum Instructor' with the same organization.

After moving back to Marin in late 2010 Antone traveled to the International Krav Maga World Headquarters in Texas where he received advanced training in Krav Maga. He hopes to achieve an instructorship in this system sometime in 2011. Antone is currently teaching and training at Marin MMA where he continues to expand his Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills under the expert tutelage of Mikyo Riggs.
