  • When Relationships Change While Caregiving - Few Spots Left

Are you struggling to make sense of your changing relationship due to caregiving? Taking over the finances, responsibility for cooking, handling outside chores, home maintenance, etc. The reversal of roles, taking on tasks that your loved one used to do but can no longer handle can be a very big adjustment.

You could be grieving or struggling with ambiguous loss. When a loved one dies, there is usually closure. Ambiguous loss is different because closure is not possible, and your grief cannot be resolved while the person you are caring for is still alive.

We invite you to join us for a limited-term support group starting on Tuesday, October 17 - November 21, from 6 - 7:30 p.m. This group will be limited to 8 participants and will be held virtually via Zoom. During this time, we will discuss the losses we experience while caregiving, what grief is, different types of grief, and how we can help work through it and still be kind to ourselves. The group will be led by James Jozwiak, MSW, APSW & Brittany Maas, MSW, APSW, Foundations Counseling.

  • Building a Caregiver Roadmap - Thursday, October 19, 2023, online, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Most people plan for vacations, routes they will take, what hotels are available, sites to see, etc. Have you planned for what the future might bring? The Caregiver Roadmap is a tool created in 2019 by a group of professionals in Central Wisconsin who came together with the goal of supporting caregivers. Learn more and register here.

  • Flu Shot Clinic - Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at ADRC. Come on in and say hello! Learn more here.

  • Wondering what you can do to prevent falls?

Winter is coming and you know that means slippery sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots. To prepare, not just for winter, but for a safer future from falls, check out this interactive website, Free Falls Wisconsin. You will learn how to prevent falls, take a Home Safety Challenge, identify what your falls risk is, and falls prevention programs.

  • November is National Caregiver Month

We have a few things planned especially for you! This isn't a complete list, that will be coming in the November Mug Club, but here are two that you can save the date and register for now!

  • Creating a Safe Discharge Plan - Tuesday, November 14, 2023. Online or in person at Options for Independent Living. In attending this presentation, you will learn how to navigate the complex health care system before a crisis or surgery.
