Back to School Sunday - August 16
Join us in worship on August 16 as we celebrate our students & teachers kicking off a new school year! Bring your book bags for a special backpack blessing during the service. As part of our Back to School celebrations, our Family Ministries team is collecting supplies to send our Mulberry college students some care packages for the start of the school year! You can drop off supplies in the marked bins in the Atrium & Narthex.

Mulberry Supper Club
Mulberry's Supper Club is a fun way to build community and form spiritual friendships in the comfort of home. Just as Jesus shared many meals with friends and strangers alike, this is a great chance to try something new, enjoy a delicious meal, and get to know others from Mulberry! This fellowship opportunity is open to all adults, and hosting is not required to be part of Supper Club. Those who sign up will be assigned to a small group that will meet once per month for 4 months to share a meal together in homes of people in our church community. To ensure a cozy gathering, each group will have no more than 8-10 adults.

Worship & Prayer Service Moving to Second Wednesday
Starting on Wednesday, August 12, our monthly contemplative Worship & Prayer service is moving to the second Wednesday of the month instead of the first. If you've never attended the service, we encourage you to come try it out! We engage with many different practices throughout the service, drawing from ancient traditions of prayer. Come center yourself in song and prayer!
Dinner begins at 5:30 pm, and the service starts at 6:15 pm.

August Second Sunday Lunch
We will meet on Sunday, August 9 for our monthly potluck lunch! Immediately following worship, you are invited to join us in the Fellowship Hall for this monthly time sharing a meal together. Bring a side dish or dessert to share, or just bring yourself!

A Bicentennial Moment
In conjunction with Mulberry’s upcoming Bicentennial Celebration in 2026, the Leonard Hill Cochran Historical Room presents a moment of Mulberry history.

This week we step back into the pages of Mulberry’s United Methodist Women’s Esther Circle 1990 cookbook, “Under The Mulberry Tree,” where dozens of historical notes were sprinkled among the recipes.
1896 - It was resolved to contract with the new Telephone Company for 5 years at $12.00 per anum.
1907 - Brother Canon authorized the building of a porch for a downstairs Sunday School Room, and a brick walk from the entrance to First Street.
1912 - In view of the movement by Macon businessmen to install electric lights in the principal business blocks, Mulberry’s Board of Stewards voted to install streetlights in front of the church.
1963 – The Official Board was entertained at a bird and venison supper hosted by Dr. and Mrs. Leonard Cochran. Dr. Cochran collected the game by various means – most of which were legal! The delicious meal was prepared by Joe Stallworth at the Grady Coffee Shop.
1898 – While each member must be judge of what he or she can pay, the Board hopes that all will pay at least the amount of their assessment, and where a member if able to pay more, the obligation to do so is not removed by action of the Board. (from the Assessment List and Financial Report)
1888 – A committee was appointed to look into the building of a stable and buggy-shed on eh parsonage lot.
1900 – The church budget for the year totals $5,701.
1946 – During World War II, 207 service men and their fiancées were married at Mulberry.
1928 – Water containers and paper cups finally replaced the wine-barrels used for drinking water in the church.
1903 – The Board of Stewards unanimously agreed to empanel our Lord’s Prayer or the Creed (or both) in place on the rear wall of the church in gilt lettering.
1929 – Average Sunday School attendance for the month of March as reported to the Director of Religious Education was 901.
1903 – The ushers, under the direction of their chairman, shall have the charge the work of seating the congregation and shall regulate the temperature and ventilation of the building and otherwise provide for the comfort of the congregation.
1902 – It was reported by the Sexton of the Cemetery that Mulberry owned a cemetery lot in need of attention.

Morning Prayer of Petition
God of the universe, your word created the world, your Son redeemed the world, and your Spirit is making all things new. Yet there is still brokenness, sin, and injustice. I pray for:
- division among your people that keeps us separated,
- economic disparity that leaves so many of your children in need,
- broken systems of education, healthcare, and political leadership that unequally impact people,
- victims of violence and those who live in fear on a daily basis,
- those who are excluded, rejected, or cast aside because of who they are or what they've done.
As I pray, may I also be moved to action and see the opportunities you offer to be salt and light in this broken world. Amen.

Evening Prayer of Gratitude
Just God, you are working all things together for good, including the brokenness of my life and the world. Raise my awareness to the place where you are:
- bringing strained relationships back together,
- producing progress towards justice,
- moving in the hearts of resistant people,
- bridging divides between factions.
Help me not only to see where you are at work but also to join you in that work, that your justice may be made real in this world. Amen.
