We’re also thrilled to celebrate our 19th anniversary—marking 18 wonderful years of serving children and families. A special shoutout goes to Annette Bryant, who has been with us since day one. Her dedication and heart for children are truly worth celebrating!

Help Feed College Students at Wesley
Mulberry friends, we have a great opportunity to support the Wesley Foundation of Macon as their students kick off a new semester of worship and community! On Tuesday, September 2, we’re providing dinner for their weekly gathering. There are lots of ways to help:
- Donate money to help cover the cost of food
- Bake or cook something delicious
- Join Payton and hang out with the Wesley students that evening
Payton will also be preaching that night, as incoming Wesley director Rev. Hannah Pye will be on maternity leave. If you’d like to contribute or come along, please contact the church office or reach out to Payton directly. Let’s show these students some Mulberry love!

A Bicentennial Moment
In anticipation of Mulberry’s upcoming Bicentennial Celebration in 2026, the Leonard Hill Cochran Historical Room presents a moment of Mulberry history.
"The Great Fire"
Below are excerpts from Official Board meetings:
April 26, 1965
“The meeting was held in the Chapel of the 1st Presbyterian Church with 67 members present. Dr. John Richardson, pastor of 1st Presbyterian, welcomed the group and stated that the facilities of the 1st Presbyterian Church were available for Mulberry’s use. Board Chairman, Albert Hatcher, thanked Dr. Richardson for his generosity and help.
Chairman Hatcher stated all services and programs will continue as planned; 11:00 Sunday services will be held in The Fellowship Hall, 9:00 services in the chapel. Wednesday night supper will continue as usual.
Members of the Rebuilding Committee were announced, motion was made and carried this committee have full authority in carrying out the rebuilding program. It was announced that the general insurance coverage totaled $900,000 and another $35,000 insurance for the stained glass windows. Dr. Robertson, Mulberry pastor, noted that the Board approve services in the Fellowship Hall, giving some thought to the fact that the rebuilding program will involve a long period of time. Dr. Robertson also recognized the many invitations extended to the membership of Mulberry offering the use of their facilities. These included: Mr. Block of the Dempsey Hotel, use of their banquet hall; Masonic Grand Lodge of Georgia; Al Sihah Temple; Vineville Methodist Church; Temple Beth Israel; Mercer University. Second Street Methodist Church offered hymnals.
It was noted that the Youth Center and the Chapel sustained some water damage, the sanctuary gutted; damage to the organ unknown.
A need for an all-night watch was discussed and doors to the sanctuary kept locked.
It was suggested that a committee should handle clean-up operations, salvage hymnals and other articles and was advised that caution should be used until adjustors have made their inspections, warned that the tall sanctuary walls are hazardous. Dr. Robertson stated that at the beginning of the fire many of the records of the church were moved to safety and that hymnals and other equipment were stored in the law offices of Hall, Bloch, Groover & Hawkins. He also reflected on the events of that day, receiving the master key of 1st Presbyterian facilities from their pastor, recounted the children coming school and embracing him, an 11 year boy, wielding a mop, offered his money for rebuilding, the many people trying to express what was in their hearts.”
To be continued

Morning Prayer of Petition
God of the universe, your word created the world, your Son redeemed the world, and your Spirit is making all things new. Yet there is still brokenness, sin, and injustice. I pray for:
- division among your people that keeps us separated,
- economic disparity that leaves so many of your children in need,
- broken systems of education, healthcare, and political leadership that unequally impact people,
- victims of violence and those who live in fear on a daily basis,
- those who are excluded, rejected, or cast aside because of who they are or what they've done.
As I pray, may I also be moved to action and see the opportunities you offer to be salt and light in this broken world. Amen.

Evening Prayer of Gratitude
Just God, you are working all things together for good, including the brokenness of my life and the world. Raise my awareness to the place where you are:
- bringing strained relationships back together,
- producing progress towards justice,
- moving in the hearts of resistant people,
- bridging divides between factions.
Help me not only to see where you are at work but also to join you in that work, that your justice may be made real in this world. Amen.
